Q about Richard Stark's Parker The Martini Edition

I recently bought Richard Stark's Parker The Martini Edition off of ebay. The seller listed it as brand new but it came loose. Usually books of this size and quality come wrapped in plastic.

If you bought this edition new did the book come wrapped or not? I'm curious because I'm not sure this is new and I paid a decent price for it. Thanks.

I've wondered about this myself, as I purchased my copy new from Amazon (stocked and shipped by them directly, not by a Marketplace vendor) and it came with no shrinkwrap. Every copy I've seen for sale in person has been the same way, leading me to assume that IDW shipped at least some batches nekkid, for whatever reason.

Often books are shipped shrinkwrapped at the retailer's request. Not all of them will ask for this.

I think more and more books aren't shrinkwrapped just because they are harder to sell that way off a shelf. I know I wouldn't pay $100-$150 for a book without looking at the inside. I guess the shops could always have a reader copy, but you get my point.

Thanks for the info guys. I was just a little shocked when I pulled the book out of the box and the book came sliding out of it's slipcase. My past experience has always been that books like this have been shrink wrapped.
