Late Night Comedy Wars 2013 -- Jimmy goes head to head w/ Jay & David in the new year

Yep Jimmy Kimmel Live will go head to head w/ David Letterman & Jay Leno for late night comedy attention starting on Tuesday January 8th. The move pushing Nightline to an hour later plus Nightline will air during primetime starting on Friday, March 1st.

It makes sense that in our 24 hour news cycle were people waiting for 11:30 to turn on to ABC to get the latest info for the news of the day?

As for the comedy wars, I watch David on occasion when he has a good guest on but prefer Jay in his early years on NBC after Carson left. However, I have not watched Jay post the Conan departure from NBC since I feel once you leave you retire and exit stage right peacefully. I never cared for Kimmel. It will make things interesting who will come out on top months following this move. These days I catch Conan over at TBS when I have the time.

I prefer Jimmy Kimmel (and Jimmy Fallon) over Leno or Letterman. But Conan is still my favorite.

I don't see much late night TV, but if I'm going to tune in, I just wait until 12:37 a.m. and watch Craig Ferguson.

Not a fan of Kimmel. I can't explain why, but I find him far more irritating than entertaining.

If I watch any of the late night talk shows it is Letterman. And I might watch him once a year.

Nightline was more of a "Here's a story in depth" than a headline broadcast. It's been doing quite well in the ratings lately, but the audience is older than advertisers would like.
