As James Bond celebrates his 50th anniversary on the big screen & Skyfall approaches, here is the upcoming film's theme song:
http://youtu.be/7HKoqNJtMTQPersonally, I'd love to hear the CGS crew's thoughts on Bond (films, novels, comics, etc). I'd be interested to know what people think is the best movie, theme, novel, villain. If I had to choose just one, it would be Goldfinger. I still love just about everything in that movie. Connery is the top 007 and I hate to say it but Brosnan was better as Remington Steele.

I will say that I've felt like both Casino and Quantum suffered a bit from some decompression. Casino was at least 20-30 minutes too long.
My favorite is from Russia with love. Then in order, on her majesty's secret service, live and let die, living daylights, gold finger,
Poor Timothy Dalton.
On her majesty's secret service is the only Bond film I like. Never been a big fan of Sean Connery. But loved Lazenby as Bond. Plus that one has Diana Rigg as as Bond's wife. I wish we had gotten at least one more film with Lazenby as Bond.
My favs are as follows:
My Top 5 Movies
005 - Thunderball
004 - The Man with the Golden Gun
003 - Live and Let Die
002 - Goldfinger
001 - Casino Royale / Quantum of Solace (it's ONE movie to me)
My Top 5 Bonds
005 - George Lazenby (could have been great with a good production team)
004 - Roger Moore (the goofy Bond, I grew up in the Moore era, therefore...)
003 - Timothy Dalton (the right actor in the wrong movies, could have been awesome)
002 - Sean Connery (the original macho version)
001 - Daniel Craig (just perfect for this role)
My Top 5 Bond Girls
005 - Sophie Marceau (as Elektra King, I've got a crush on Marceau since 1980)
004 - Ursula Andress (as Honey Ryder, Swiss power....)
003 - Honor Blackman (as Pussy Galore, The Avengers...)
002 - Diana Rigg (as Teresa di Vicenzo, The Avengers...)
001 - Eva Green (as Vesper Lynd, saw her in a play - she can act... and is damn sexy)
My Top 5 Bond Villains
005 - Christopher Lee (as Francisco Scaramanga, he really loved his gun....)
004 - Curt Jürgens (as Karl Stromberg, Germans are good in being evil.....)
003 - Robert Carlyle (as Renard, way over the top - good fun to watch)
002 - Mathieu Amalric (as Dominic Greene, sublime)
001 - Gert Fröbe (as Goldfinger, legendary German actor - awesome in over 100 movies)
005 - Lotte Lenya (as Rosa Klebb, I'll never forget those poisonous shoe-spikes)
004 - Kabir Bedi (as Gobinda, Bedi was Sandokan!)
003 - Anatole Taubman (as Elvis, what a weasel...and he's a Swiss actor...)
002 - Richard Kiel (as Jaws, nice bite but turned good later...what a shame)
001 - Harold Sakata (as Oddjob, artist of the lethal hat!)

As for the films, I know people will disagree but I put Casino and Quantum at the top. I grew up with the Connery and Moore films but once the Craig movies came out those just seemed cartoony and in a class below. Craig is definitely my Bond.

The idea is that 'James Bond' is just a code name given to a particular agent. Therefore Sean Connery, Roger Moore etc. are all actually playing different people.
I agree on Craig.
Yes, really on the last one. I don't mind my Bond films gadgety, and Michelle Yeoh kicks ass. And I liked Brosnan as Bond. The World Is Not Enough was pretty painful, but I liked the other ones pretty well (though I suspect a lot of my appreciation for Die Another Day is tied up in the chick with the sword).
As for the movies...let me put it this way: I find the Moore movies unwatchable and any of the movies that actually adapt one of the Fleming novels is always going to be head a shoulders above any others.
And I watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service every couple of years. Just a great, under-rated movie.
My dad took me to every bond film upon release from 1974 to 1997. I miss that.
6. Craig -- The wrong hair color Bond aka faux Bond
5. Lazenby -- The Romantic Bond
4. Moore -- The Funny Bond
3. Dalton -- The Perfect Bond in my lifetime
2. Bosnan -- The "no more foreplay" Bond
1. Connery -- The original Bond
Matthew
My top five:
1. Goldfinger
2. From Russia with Love
3. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. Casino Royale
5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
My bottom five:
1. A View to a Kill (can't stand Tanya Roberts--would have been much better without her)
2. Moonraker (poor Bond girl and over the top)
3. Die Another Day (couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy it)
4. The World is Not Enough (Denise Richards is terrible)
5. Diamonds are Forever (far and away the worse Connory flick)
And pretty sure my girlfriend hopes he's stripped naked again.
