@thefreakytiki Jesus isn't against the establishment. He is the Establishment
Not to speak for Tiki, but I think he means (and regarding the Gospels, I have read those books) that Jesus' life and teachings were very much counter to the culture he lived in. To the point that the authorities killed him for it. I think that is what Tiki is saying in his comparison.
I think I'll respond in a longer way. Jesus was in no way was like a Punk Rocker. Yes, He was a culture shock, but that was not even close to how punk rock was to the culture. It just comes back to the major point I was trying to make. Jesus is this world's most sacred man. Making Him into a punk rocker is just not right. It is disgusting. Comparing Jesus' to the punk rock wave is just wrong

It was Tiki's comparison, so he can speak for it. But I will say that you can compare two things without EQUATING them. You know what I mean? Not all comparisons imply a 1 to 1.

I get that, but it is not even close to a comparison
  • Eric, I respectfully disagree. David has broken down my thoughts exactly. We are simpatico when it comes to the comparison.

I read a bit more about this Title and apparently the protagonist is a clone from dna found from Jesus. It brings up a lot of controversy and philosophical questions but it could be respectful or not. I think its too early to judge. I personally think that if it is done right it could be a good comic book.

I don't want to get all religious up in here but I used to be Catholic but now I believe organized religion to be somewhat of a joke. I don't think anyone has God or Jesus completely figured out. I refuse to believe that "God hates fags". I hope this book brings forward the hypocrisy of Christianity's view on modern culture while highlighting whats actually important in regards to being a good person.

Why even bring up this conversation. People attack Christianity because they know it is the only form of bigotry they are allowed to get away with. If they insulted black or latinos they would be labeled racist and would risk losing their job. If they attacked Jewish people they would be labeled anti-Semite and risk losing their job. If they attacked Muslims they would... risk someone finding where they lived and killing them. Attacking Christians is the most popular form of bigotry because bigots are natural cowards.
    What a bunch of malarkey.*

Whenever someone responds to the intolerance, ignorance, hate &/or superstition spread by some bozo who claims to speak in the name of Jesus, suddenly they're attacking Christianity.

*Sorry for the previous profanity. It's just the kind of thing we cowardly bigots do.
  • Belittling Jesus is like belittling Allah or Budda or Martin Luther King. People act like they are just expressing their opinion but it is obviously an attack on every person that icon represents. It is juvenile and an act of hate. People can say "But what about Christians saying..." but that is what all racists do, they find fault and use it to attack innocent people. In this age of "Stop Bullying" and tolerance people should not make such obvious exceptions when it comes to the group THEY don't like.

I make $0 a year and am voting for Obama, feel that there should be gay marriage, think true communism is the way to go if we cannot be socialists, women should choose whether they want an abortion, men should not be involved in abortion at all, women should be on the front lines, robots are cool, and someone needs to give me a job.

    Mike,

Just because someone says that they support 'gay' marriage doesn't mean shit until He/She makes it law. Obama, like any gutless politician is making that statement for brownie points with the electorate. Obama is the most inexperienced politician to ever be President. But I personally believe...that there needs to be a revolt in this country. .

There needs to be an alternate view to ' republicans' and 'democrats'. Until then...you will always be earning $0 a year.

My politics are Doom, naturally. If Doom can't lead us, no one can. Or should.

    Dear Mike,

My wife says as a woman...she would have aborted you...especially because you voted for Obama...and if she was gay...she would have considered not aborting you...but, yeah, she would have aborted you.

    All the best,
    Your pal,
    Flint

ps. My wife saw this post and forced me to write this...or I'll be sleeping on the couch.

Would prenatal Mike have still voted for Obama though? Because if you stop to think about it, your prenatal political views would definitely be different from your adult views, especially if you're pro-choice (wow, I didn't expect this post to go there when I started typing it....)

Wow, did not see this thread going this way. I feel like this got a bit out of hand. I am just going to try to make my anger about it very simple.
    - Jesus is the most sacred of beings in the history of mankind.
    - The Christian religion has been attacked forever, I get that, but not in ways like Punk Rock Jesus and other type stories.
    - I am not attacking Sean Murphy as a person. One has the right to say what they want.
    - As he can say what he wants, I have that same right. I feel that this book crosses a line that should never be crossed. Using the DNA of Jesus to clone him is downright disgusting.
    - @Flintlockjaw I can get mad at such a thing, even without reading it or anything, the concept of a Punk Rock Jesus is just wrong. Plain and simple
    - I'm not calling for the book to be banned or for a mob to attack Sean Murphy. I was simply saying how I felt about it. This is a Comic forum and Punk Rock Jesus is a comic. Thus I felt the need to voice my displeasure with the book.
    - My world revolves around my faith, I see fit to defend it.
    God Bless You All

    p.s. @thefreakytiki I make $7.50 an hour to be a lifeguard. I am a strong conservative.
