as an atheist, I love religious mythology, especially Catholic since I grew up in a Catholic house. So anything dealing with exorcism's and unique funny priests and/or nuns has always been something I'm interested in and will be drawn to. This has a feel of Father Guido Sarducci, which as a kid was first treated to in the Casper movie. I expect some walking priests with backwards heads! Are we going to find out all the details about this at ECCC?
btw, I think some spambot go into the forum, look at the posts above me
Isn't that something you can apply to just about anything? I go into this being optimistic. There's a chance it won't be. I'll take that chance.
No, hype without any real substance I am not a big fan of. Drop one or two of these teasers and then maybe a preview page or two and "wow" me and then I care. Just drug out teasers or other forms of pure marketing/hype even if it is an awesome team don't do a thing for me.

This isn't hype. It is exactly what it says it is: a teaser. They are teasing the premise of a book. It doesn't need to be substance yet, as it is just a teaser. There is sure to be art and previews to come. They are trying to get people invested in the announcement of the book that will be made at ECCC.
As a supporter of creator-owned books, I would think you would be more sympathetic to a book getting creative in trying to drum up support for something new. If you want to call that "pure marketing", fine. If it doesn't do anything for you, so be it. But I call it creators who believe in their work doing what they can to get the word out, and drum up interest in their upcoming announcement. Where's the harm? If you don't like it, don't click the links. I promise their teasers won't be delivered to your mailbox. And no one is asking you to preorder this July book already without knowing more about what it is. They are just teasing. Trying to get interest in their announcement. I say good luck to 'em. May they continue to be a part of the excellent year Image is having.
I think you are reading way more into what I was saying than I said. I already said that my view is cautiously optimistic, my last comment was to respond to jaydee74. This is indeed marketing, I never said it was evil or wrong, just that this kind of thing does nothing for me. It isn't new or novel, and I personally don't care for this type of hype. Not just in comics but with anything. Blow me away with the actual product and I'll care every time. I still may with this, but I am not going to get excited or sucked in by a stream of teasers with no real substance. No need for rankled feathers.

I wonder are Mike and Tim themselves creating the teasers or somebody else?
