Bad news for anyone expecting a Nolan directed Justice League film.

Was anybody seriously expecting that? I know I sure wasn't.

    The British reviews are in:
The Guardian agreed the film stands apart from other recent comic book movies, calling it "a corrective to the jumpsuit antics of The Avengers".

"Here is a film of granite, monolithic intensity; a superhero romp so serious that it borders on the comical, like a children's fancy-dress party scripted by Victor Hugo and scored by Wagner," wrote Xan Brooks.
    Egad. Sounds dreadful.

I'll take more "jumpsuit antics," thank you very much.

Sounds like a superhero movie for people who hate superhero movies. Oh. Goody.

That's pretty much the way I felt about the previous two as well.

Seems to me the tagline for the previous film makes a good criticism of the series: "Why so serious?"

The local AMC theater just added another trilogy showing (their 3rd). It promptly sold out.

Best Buy is doing an upgrade and recycle deal. Batman Begins and Dark Knight blu-rays are $9.99 this week. You bring in 2 DVD's that are still in the package you purchased them in (no bootlegs or porn) and they will give you $5 credit for each movie to be used on the blu-rays. So you get the blu-rays for $5/each AND you get the $5 off the movie ticket price for Dark Knight Rises. So its like getting the blu-ray upgrades for free if you haven't done that already. I went and did it. Also got Blazing Saddles on blu-ray.

Dark Knight Rises: Bane character 'part of plot against Mitt Romney'

    8-} =)) L-)
"So this evil villain in the new Batman movie is named Bane. And there's discussion out there as to whether or not this was purposeful and whether or not it will influence voters," said Limbaugh. "A lot of people are going to see the movie. And it's a lot of brain-dead people – entertainment, the pop culture crowd – and they're going to hear Bane in the movie and they're going to associate Bain.

"And the thought is that when they're going to start paying attention to the campaign later in the year and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain, not Bain Capital but Romney and Bain, that these people will start thinking back to the Batman movies: 'Oh yeah, I know who that is!'"

just read this review, and i'm glad i did, and that david chen said what he said (i listen to him on the /filmcast every week) as it lowers my expectations just a little so that hopefully i won't be let down by the movie by overhyping it in my own head.

I think someone's been letting Rush get all those "prescriptions" filled again.

Either that or it really is a vast, precognitive liberal conspiracy. Set into motion nearly 20 years ago. By Chuck Dixon, a writer who is an admitted, proud conservative. Honestly, I don't know why we didn't all realize this sooner.

Apparently Rush was peddling the same theory on his show yesterday, also claiming that Bane was specifically named that for this film.

Don't these guys at least have interns who can do a quick Wikipedia search?

EDIT: Sorry, I just scanned the headline and thought it was a writer for the Guardian, not Limbaugh, who said it, and then he ran with it on his show yesterday.

Excuse me as I reeeeaaaacccchhhhh across the table!

I'm not sure which is more stupid: 1.) the people who think this is a hidden agenda or 2.) anyone who would associate the movie villain & politician in November?

The more I think about how ridiculous this claim is, I began to wonder if there's anyone out there who follows Limbaugh because they think he has a great music catalogue?!

I get a strange feeling I will be the only comic fan not seeing this film this weekend. Was suppose to go see it in Imax, but stuff happened and I will have to wait till the end of the month. I just hope DKR is more like TDK and less like BB. While Batman Begins was a ok film it isn't a film I see myself going back and rewatching much.

@dubbatt138 : you're not alone - I'll be at the beach for 2 weeks. After that I'll spend some time at the hospital, doing check-ups on my brain tumor. But then I'll travel to Gotham :D

I just embarrassed myself in my own head, Mr. Steed! As I was reading your post I thought," oh! Too bad! Can't go to the movies cuz in chillin at the beach for two weeks! (Waterboy douchebag voice)" then I kept reading and had to mentally kick my own ass for being a douche! Don't worry though I clicked my own dislike button!

I can't believe what happened in Aurora, Co. At first I thought some guys maybe got into a fight and fired some shots but nothing on that level. All I can think about is all those people who were just going to have a nice time until that deranged individual showed up. Just awful. And he just waits for the cops just so twisted.

It's being reported on Denver radio that when authorities contacted the suspects mother she said, "You've got the right guy."
