2 years ago at a con. I listened to someone I have known for years bitching about "How the con has been taken over by this manga/anime kids. They don't belong here. I doubt they ever had to pay 30 for a fab subbed 10 generation tape of Dr Slump." I tired to explain to him that the younger crowd is what keeps the con going. Us older geeks,that have been going to it for over 20 years now, are dying off or moving away. And these "manga/anime kids" are what we were 20+ years ago.
