I'm Back in the Reviewing Game

Hey guys,

Some of you may remember I was the manga reviewer for ign.com for a good five years running, but as ign shifted its focus the work pretty much dried up for me. Well, I'm happy to report I'm back in the reviewing business again, but this time for a site called Comic Spectrum!

www.comicspectrum.com

Comic Spectrum was started up by former board member (and my friend) Bob Bretall, as a site designed to cover...what else...the full spectrum of this hobby/pastime/obsession we all have. To say Bob has a passion for comics is an understatement, and you'll see that in this website. He's also in cahoots with the Guinness people to set a world record for the world's largest individually held comic book collection.

The site is in its infancy, but I'm inviting you to come evolve with it. News, reviews and the occasional scribblings from yours truly (mostly covering manga and crowdsourced books) should make it a fun and informative site for everyone (which is pretty much the goal).

This was a back and forth in a previous thread. TS and I were talking about his shining moment as an IGN reviewer Pirates vs Ninjas

TS - "It took FIVE people to make something this awful?"

Me - So I searched "Al Sparrow" + pirates vs ninjas to read your review. Here is a sample from that review

'Simply put, this is an idea whose time came and went a long time ago…and it needs to keep going. If you have $3.50 that's just burning a hole in your pocket, and you just love pirates and ninjas, by all means pick this up, but you'll get a lot more use (and better reading) if you bought some Charmin with it instead."
    I'm in.

That was my finest hour at IGN. Even my editor wrote me back and said I had the whole office cracking up with that line about five people...
