1 - On Her Majesty's Secret Service - That's right, bitches. George Lazenby did *the* best Bond movie. Take it to the bank! 2 - The Spy Who Loved Me - Best action sequence at the end. Anyone doubting Moore's ability to not rely on comedy and schtick can be proven wrong. 3 - Casino Royale - Daniel Craig saved us from that last Brosnan trainwreck! 4 - Goldeneye - that said, loved Bros in this one. 5 - Goldfinger - takes place in Kentucky, my home state. 6 - Live and Let Die - Another case of Moore being a badass. 7 - Dr. No - because fuckin' Ursula Andress in that bikini. No other reason. Don't need one. :)
Big fan of OHMSS as well.
And because the later Moore films were so bad, it's easy to forget how much fun the early ones were.
I'm one of those pro-Dalton folks, though. Both of his would be in my top seven.
QFT. Also pro-Dalton. IMO, Goldeneye is the only one of the Brosnan films with any value.
I like Peirce Brosnan. My mom was a huge James Bond fan and I always felt bored watching them and I kept saying Remington Steel would make a better James Bond. Then he was and I wasn't as bored.
The Daniel Craig ones are ok too but I still like Peirce best.
I'll try and steer us back on course - was going to create a new thread but really this could fit under the main topic of this one:
DC, I'm done with you, and it's Keith Giffen's fault.
Yesterday, I was reading Masters of the Universe. Don't judge. I'll read anything He-Man related. So will my wife. But we're both done with the title and with DC in general until they get their collective shit together.
He-Man just said "My bad..." to Teela.
Now I know. This is He-Man. Not Tolkein. Not Martin. It's not even Eddings. It's a franchise, designed to sell toys and statues. I get that. It doesn't excuse you from at least treating the franchise with a little bit of understanding, respect and the idea that even if it is a shitty assignment, you give a damn. Eternians don't generally use 80s/90s slang in their speech.
I'm also a tremendous Keith Giffen fanboy. He created my favorite character. Did some great work on Legion material. He's been DC's fireman for many years, jumping in to help out when a series is in trouble. I get that he's probably overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated. That said, this was phoning it in on the highest level.
It hurts me to write these words, because I've been a citizen of the DC Nation for more years than I have not in my collected years on this planet. However, this was the final straw, and while it may seem minor, it's indicative of a larger problem. You just don't seem to give two shits anymore. So I won't either.
I can't completely cut the cord, of course. You still have a few (emphasis on "few") books that I'll be happy to get in trade format. You're not totally screwing the pooch here. I particularly like what you did with the Marvel family. There's real potential there. Don't screw it up.
And you've started to figure out that some of us yearn for those happy days of yore when you were making good books and have been re-collecting them in trades. And of course I'll still be getting any statues I want (and can afford). So I won't say you've seen the last of my money.
But you have seen it where single issues are concerned. I can't support you guys anymore until you start giving a damn about what goes on between those eye-catching covers. Lord knows there's enough indie companies out there who can give me a flashy cover with 22-pages of crap inside but who actually could USE my money. Lord, do you see what you've turned me into?
I know it sounds silly and trite, but it really did hit me yesterday as I was reading the book.
With so many creators out there throwing their heart and soul into creating a book that only under the best circumstances will make them any kind of profit or gain them any kind of reknown...how foolish am I to keep throwing money at books where it's clear the creators no longer care?
Why am I more excited by what I see on Kickstarter than I am on the usual round of monthly solicits?
How crazy is it that the guys who started Image have ruined DC while the guys who made DC great are now making Image (and potentially Boom! with Perez on board) great?
Frankly, folks, I think I'm gonna take up alcohol. It's cheaper in the long run and at least I have better stories in my head when I'm drunk. :)
When I saw the panel of He-Man saying "my bad" I immediately thought, what is @Torchsong going to think about this? I don't hold with it too but I'm not dropping the book...yet.

In one of my bits of insomnia a few weeks back I watched a few He-Man clips. Because it's YouTube and the spiral of related video to related video led me there for one reason or another. He-Man is littered with quips and sayings that are definitely not Eternia based. My bad might be stretching it. But it's definitely got precedence. :))
I'm not saying it has to be Shakespeare...He-Man was never that...but the "My bad" really...REALLY...stood out.
Oh well...YOLO... ;)
Hey, some things in life are bad. They can really make you sad...Other things just make swear and curse...When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble...give a whistle....This will help things turn out for the best.
Always look on the bright side of life... :-\":-\":-\"
