Writing a cease and desist letter was never an item on my bucket list, but tonight I had to do just that. A website was selling unauthorized hoodies and t-shirts of a Doctor Who/ Star Wars mashup that I had created and posted to my tumblr. site. last month. To site's credit, they responded immediately and took down all listings. After shooting the vendor that email, I also updated my original tumblr. post clarifying that this image is not to be used for monetary gain.
I feel your pain. I have had some jackass in the UK (I'm in the states) bootlegging shirts with my design and selling them on ebay. In case anyone is wondering, ebay is of NO HELP WHATSOEVER in cases like this, as long as the other guy is making money for them or you are a large corporation. Also, you can't file a complaint or post a review unless you buy the item.
The football may be better than what was in the first XFL but probably not any where near NFL quality. With the first version, there was no real training camp or pre season. Vince has acknowledged this mistake in the past. If he can make the play at least decent and speed up the flow of the game with different rules - then it has at least a chance.
Where Vince could really shake things up is if he starts offering contracts to college freshman/sophomores or even 5 star recruits out of high school.
This would be my advice to Vince. Go back to the 1970's NFL rule book and use that. De-emphasize that QB position. Let the ground cause a fumble. Actually get the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. And, let a catch be an F-ing catch. No political/religious statements on the sidelines. There would be some exemptions. You have to keep the current roughing penalties.
They'll have no choice but to deemphasize the QB position, because they won't have any QBs worth a darn. The NFL can't even get enough good starters. And it doesn't look like the XFL will be paying players enough to even lure away the NFL practice squad guys. I don't think they'll even be able to pay as much as Alabama does, so forget about luring away top college players too.
Seriously, though, the only thing they'll have going for them is if they can indeed keep the games under two hours. Run it like a soccer match: Once the clock starts, it doesn’t stop until it runs out. No commercial breaks (ads can run on screen during the game), no time-outs, no stopping the clock when the ball goes out of bounds, no intentional grounding, no stopping the clock for an injury (maybe add stoppage time to the end of the half as in soccer). But let's face it, the quality of the play isn't going to be any better than a mid-level college game. Maybe that will be enough for people, but history begs to differ.
I bet Vince could lure some guys with decent one year contracts. He should approach Manziel, Tebow, Kapernick, RG3, etc. The attention those names would bring to the XFL would be substantial.
No Manziel—he has a criminal record. Tebow is “dedicated to baseball” (for now, at least). Those guys would bring eyes for a week or two, but could they sustain interest for two and a half months? There are reasons they aren’t playing in the NFL. Of course, going back to playing against college-level talent would make them look a lot better.
In a league that has rules that de-emphasize pocket passing, those guys could excel.
You won't need those rules. Given the level of talent they will have, all they'll need is one really fast receiver who can chase down a poor throw. Plus, RBs are a dime a dozen, unlike many other positions, so most teams will probably be relying on their running game for the most part anyway.
The criminal record thing is stupid. I get the idea behind it - they want "good guys." What happens when a player ends up making a mistake like a DWI? Fire him?
Ah, well, I'm just happy that the guys who can't make the CFL or Arena Football will have a place to play.
I hit that part of my KoDT reading last week. So I went diving for information and found the"not another dime" like. It was fun reading.
What they missed was Ken was involved in a scam that cost a number of game companies money before he did kickstarter. He took a few years away from games, came back contrite, and well never changed.
I am rooting for the Eagles to win, they have the most former Wisconsin Badgers so that's is a factor for me. And their defense is better than the Patriots. In fact up and down the roster they might be better then the Patriots. But I don't think Nick Foles can play like he did two games in a row. And well the Patriots always find a way. 28-20 Pats
I'm not even watching this year. The only way this could be worse is if the Saints made it.
This is what happens when you want to bottle all the tears of Auburn fans and cover yourself in thier misery because you thrashed them in a game they knew they would win, thus crushing thier hopes and ending with thier season two most hated rivals playing for a national championship. It was glorious, Conan what is best in life glorious. Vanity...
Have you ever not bought a comic project because one of the creators is an insufferable ass? I'm right there now. I'm really interested in something this creator is doing, but I'm not sure he could have a project I would even take the time to pirate.

I can think of two....I'm not a fan of Dave Sim, that's why I've avoided Cerebus & Glamorpuss. Also, when Marvel launched a Deadpool series written by Daniel Way (it had my interest until he was announced).

The XFL is back in 2020.

But screw the pats and eagles.
