So dc is willing to write out a couple of perfectly acceptable lobo appearances, but marvel can't retcon shadowland as a dream. The world has gone haywire. Whatever I've just about given up on dc in trades.
Given the track record of the creators involved, how likely do you really think that is?
sigh... That's all that is left to do. I have a sad, sinking feeling they are not in on the joke. It reminds of the Grant Lobo series (after Giffen left) where it felt like he forgot Lobo was satire. Even that comparison leaves me flat because Lobo was still ridiculous in the series.
I heard some weird stuff about how this Lobo is different from the one they introduced. I do not want to believe that DC screwed up this bad, So im going to take a wait and see approach. It seems unlikely that they will have two versions o the character running aronud.

An interview I read, don't remember where but I think it was newsarama, basically said the first arc is about "real" Lobo going after "imposter" Lobo for sullying his name or something.
Lobo was a commentary character... a satire. This... this is just sad.
Or maybe, in the same way 90s Lobo was a send up of the other 90s extremes, maybe this Lobo DOES get the joke, by looking all New 52 I, Lobo. ??

I am not familiar with the creators of Justice League 23.2 (as well as Rochefort on designs) to have a sense of their track record. But, to be fair, from the look of the rest of the New 52, the design we are seeing is probably the real one, and not meant to be parodic.
But, also, maybe the 90s Lobo was an artifact of his time, and best left there. Much as you know I loved 52, Lobo's appearance in that series was a low point. To me, the Grant/Bisley Lobo of those first minis and one-shots was perfectly positioned in that time. But in later appearances felt like something of a nostalgia act, you know what I mean?
I am not saying this new idea for him will work. But it may be time for a new idea if they are going to bother to use him at all.
Comments
1: The DiDio/Johns/Lee Triumvirate continues to strip every bit of fun out of the DCU.
2: This absurd level of detail in character design is why artists can only produce a few pages a week now, instead of a few a day.
/Fuckin' retcons...how do they work?!?
I-)

Did they blow that one.

I miss Lobo in R.E.B.E.L.S.
Looks like DC is already doing the backpeddle. I just hope they didn't make the writer get out in front of it and that she did it on her own.
PS go back one comic for a quick smile.
