I was thinking Robin Hood but didn't know if we needed a comic character (I'm sure he's in a comic somewhere anyway) and then saw that he was getting some write ins. From The fox, to Costner to the man in tights, to that black and white one from years ago.
What about the glorious Technicolor version with Errol Flynn?
That's the black and white one I was talking about.
However now I don't know if I saw it in black and white or if it was the Technicolor version and I was just at my grandparents house. I had a little tv in the back that was black and white.

Not only is it one of the first DVDs I bought, the soundtrack is in my iPod.
I loved that Hawkeye had a part-time job. I loved that he was so obviously over matched but never lost faith. Hawkeye even before this last series took of.
Went for Green Arrow, with the 1980s Mike Grell run in mind. A sentimental favorite, that series. Mature readers. No costume. No trick arrows. I don't think he even called himself Green Arrow. He was close to middle-aged, used sharp arrows, just had a hood for a costume, sold flowers, and kicked ass.
That was series was a long time ago, though. As far as current incarnations, the current Hawkeye title is a much better read than the current Green Arrow.

Yep. Another of those proto-Vertigo series in which the dark edges of the DCU were explored without compromising the bright center.
