Miracle (Man) Day

OK.

As much as I dislike Alan Mordru today, there's no denying how brilliant his early work was.

Today, those of you who missed it the first time have the opportunity to read Miracleman #1.

Don't miss this opportunity.

I think it's gonna hold up well.

Beyond the Mordru stuff, I am beyond giddy at the prospect of seeing Gaiman's completion of his story.

    Beyond.

    Giddy.

@Wetrats well said. However one may feel about Moore's current work, or current answers in interviews about the industry, the fact remains that one of the works at the top of the 'I wish this was available/in print' list starts returning to print today. And this also begins the process of a long-unfinished story getting finished.

And, for those that worry about the 'death' of the single issue format, well, the fact that they decided to go the periodical route rather than straight to deluxe collections is a reminder that the single issue is still alive and well. (Because, if there is a chance to sell the same content twice, and even sell ads the first time, they will!)

I know I might be stepping on a landmine here with this hot-comics-take, but one of the reasons I'm glad DC has had the rights to Watchmen is that it has never been out of print. Millions of people have had a chance to read the series because of DC. I really believe that readers under 35 would have had to wait until the late 2000s to get that oppurtunity (legally anyway).

The Miracle Man series is one that I pirated 6/7 yrs ago to read because I knew it would never see the light of day again. I wouldn't have had the chance to read it any other way (I didn't like reading it on a pc screen so I never finished it). I've ordered every issue through DCBS and am excited to dig into the series. This is a big day for readers because Moore's early works are great.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you think.

A bit dated in terms of wordiness, occasional over-explanatory dialogue, and story compression, but overall, I'd say it holds up well.

The new coloring is certainly gorgeous!
