The 2014 Reading List Thread - February

Links to Previous Reading List Threads:
January - http://thecomicforums.com/discussion/2596/the-2014-reading-list-thread-january#latest

Alrighty! Time for month #2! A short month, but still plenty of time for reading! List all your books you read from 2/1 to 2/28 and (should you choose to) pick your top 5 toward the end and from those 5 pick a single book that "wins" that month. At the end of the year you'll have 12 books that'll give you an idea of the best you've read that year. You can even go so far as to pick a "Book of the Year"

Most of all...let's have fun with this!

I'm totally with you. It's one of my favourite reads. It's written perfectly. And the art fits just right too. It's also one of the few books that makes me laugh out loud too, which is always a good sign. I need to pick up vols 5&6, but they are high on my must buy list.

While I blew through my DCBS floppies, I think I burned myself out last month. I have a stack of trades that I want to dive into but I'm struggling finding the desire. I want to read them it's just when I pick it up something in me goes, meh...

I have been watching a lot (I mean a lot!) of Netflix documentaries and such. I'm getting near the end of those so perhaps I'll find my reading legs once again?

So I've plowed through some single issues while I'm slowly working through DC Showcase Superman Family vol 1. I love insane Jimmy Olsen stories; they might be the best.

Agreed. The weirder the better where Jimmy Olsen stories are concerned.

Reading some of those early Superman/Jimmy stories it really surprises me that Supes didn't arrange for Jimmy to have an "accident". :)

Right? That was always the thing about the whole "Superman is a dick" meme that bugged me. His friends were always trying to expose his secrets or exploit their relationships with him in some way for personal gain. If those were your friends, you'd be a dick, too.

Superman has to regret giving Jimmy that watch. Jimmy uses it to call him with the dumbest emergencies.

It's always fun when Supes messes with Jimmy to teach a life lesson or because Jimmy is acting like a dick to everyone (including his best pal Superman). Supes is a better man than me when it comes to dealing with Jimmy (haven't gotten to Lois stories yet...)

That it was. I could have had 3 winners. Snow Piercer won because it was great and different from everything else I read.
