The 2014 Reading List Thread - April

April showers may bring May flowers but for us it's another month to log what you've read, pick things that really stood out, and see if we can make it to the end of the year!

Links to Previous Reading List Threads:
January - http://thecomicforums.com/discussion/2596/the-2014-reading-list-thread-january#latest
February - http://thecomicforums.com/discussion/2662/the-2014-reading-list-thread-february#latest
March - http://thecomicforums.com/discussion/2723/the-2014-reading-list-thread-march#latest

As always - there are no real rules - just keep a list of what you read - singles or trades or whatever. I bold the top 5 or 6 books and pick a "winner" each month, but that's just me. I'm amazed at how much I've read this year already!

Above all - Have fun!

@LibraryBoy‌ how many volumes of XFactor have you read this year? Just what you have listed makes me think you've read at least 9.

With the advent of the new new forums it's likely most of the previous month's lists will be lost to time...I'll be copying my list and I'll leave it up to you guys to do the same...but this ongoing experiment will continue.

So is this a confirmation that we are definitely getting new forums?

I'd say it's about 80% likely. I have no actual say in the matter, so don't take my words as gospel.

I had a beginning of the month binge and have been reading prose the last couple of weeks. I may try to get something in tonight. If I can't buy books in my comiXology app I don't see me reading a whole lot more digital in the near future.
  • mwhitt80mwhitt80 Posts: 4,637
So Darkhorse had a crazy digital sale over the weekend and I decided to get some BPRD. I've read (and enjoyed) lots of Hellboy, but never read it's sister series. A few BPRD trades turned into me buying 6 (plus 4 Abe Sapien trades) and reading 4 of them.
  • fredzillafredzilla Posts: 2,131
I've been picking up Hellboy religiously (ha!) since the first movie. Soon after the first couple of trades I got into BPRD and I haven't looked back since. There's a whole shelf in my bookcase dedicated to Hellboy, et al. trades. I'm glad you like them.

Quick note: It took me nearly a year to figure out why BPRD wasn't being published anymore. Since the events from the war on frogs, the title changed to BPRD: Hell in Earth.
  • mwhitt80mwhitt80 Posts: 4,637
I've read the first 8 trades of Hellboy. It's not been something I pick up regularly, but I really like Hellboy stories. I'll get them 2-3 trades at a time, but this was the first time I've read BPRD. I love these just as much as Hellboy. At this rate I'm going to be out of my BPRD books by the weekend.

I was able to get a couple of books in under the wire, both by Gene Luen Yang: Boxers and Saints. Uh-maze-ing. They've been sitting on my shelf for a couple of months and I was glad to finish out April with these.
