So the networks announced their pick-ups this week and in the next 2 years we are going to have a crazy amount of comic-based shows on the air/streaming:
Agents of SHIELD
Agent Carter
Arrow
iZombie
The Flash
Gotham
Constantine
Daredevil
Jessica Jones
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
The Defenders
Walking Dead
Powers
Plus Preacher, a Walking Dead spin-off and Thief of Theives at AMC, Pax Romana and Letter 44 at SyFy and Scalped at WGN are in development. That's a possible 20 comic based shows in the next 18 months or so. And if any of the new shows are hits TV will explode with development deals.
Personally, I'm excited about this. Probably as excited as I was from 2002-2008 when Hollywood finally fell in love with comic movies. Maybe more so because I love TV so much. But it's kinda strange that it tipped over this year. Walking Dead has been the only across the board hit and its been one for years. Is this the result of a TV arms race where networks are trying to be the first with a bonafide comic book hit, (Arrow is successful by CW standards but is hardly a smash, and we've talked the short-comings of MAoS to death at this point)Is it the Big Two attempt to cement themselves as the premiere Comics/Entertainment multimedia leader? Or are people just hungry for comics on TV and this is the market giving the people what they want? All 3? None of the above?
Which ones are you most excited about? Personally the Marvel Netflix shows are at the top of my list.

I heard somewhere that Tales from the Crypt is making a comeback.
