I could be mistaken, but I think today's deadline is for being able to edit (remove items) from your order. You can still add items to it for several days.
Agreed. This is from their email--
It's a super-early order deadline this month based on our distributor's calendar! The order due date for August orders is August 19th. If you can get your order in by then, that is great! If you can't get your order in by then, we will be extending the order due date for making new orders and for order additions but not for order reductions. We will send another order reminder as we get closer to the end of the month.
My order goes in on the first day possible. (Usually the 4th of the month). I look forward to it each month. I just do not like to wait and I like to know how much money it is going to set me back.
My lightest month in years. We've been temporarily laid off at work so comics aren't exactly something I can go nuts on this month. Anyways:
MARVEL Blade #1 - taking a gamble but I have a hunch... Doctor Strange #1 Secret Wars #8 Extraordinary X-Men #1 Extraordinary X-Men #2 Howling Commandos of Shield #1 Weirdworld #5
DC Superman Lois And Clark #1
IMAGE Tokyo Ghost #2
I've been buying at least one Avengers book each month since Geoff Johns was on the title. I'm just not excited to read it now. Hopefully they turn out to be great and I end up hunting down back issues.

Yep. I have two DCBS "holidays" - Big Box Day when the monthly shipment shows up and "New Order Day" when Cameron puts up the next month's listings. There's something relaxing about poring through the listings.
My strategy is to go through and click every item I see that I "think" I'd want, then after realizing I can't mortgage the house to satisfy my DCBS order, I pare it down to what I "know" I want, and from there it's paring it down to "What I can actually afford".
And through the month I tend to pare it down further or add a book if enough people talk about it (see Paper Girls, above).
I just posted a link to all of the November solicits. I tend to go through these in advance in preparation of John Mayo's podcast. Helps me to spend less money at DCBS if I already know what I'm after :)
