@WetRats Hey, there's a lot of goofy covers I like! ;-) For me, it seems to depend on when I first saw the goofy cover. If it was when I was 8-12 years old (like when I saw the reprint of this one), then I tend to just roll with it a bit more...
Kubert Covers War Joe Kubert On Sale Date: November 13, 2012 $24.99/$27.99 Can. 208 pages Hardback 9781401224141, 1401224148
Summary: The best war comics covers by legendary artist Joe Kubert are collected in this spectacular new hardcover. From 1955 through the 1970s, Kubert was the primary cover artist on DC’s war comics, and these covers feature Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace, The Haunted Tank, and many other heroes. Kubert’s gritty drawing style captured the dangers of war, showing these ordinary heroes’ struggle to survive and reach their goals while portraying them in a realistic light.
Seeing as they are the talk of the town at the moment...
I don't like this one at all.
The characters are goofy-looking (and not in a good way) and are walking way too close to each other. It looks like the next panel should show then tumbled into a heap as they trip all over each other's feet.
This is a personal favorite for a number of reasons. First, I always liked Captain Marvel, particularly during this period when Roy Thomas and Gil Kane first revamped him and gave him the classic red and blue outfit. Secondly, I love Gil Kane artwork. Most of all, because for a short time I actually owned the original art to this cover, purchased at a convention during the early 70's. Sadly, I fell on hard financial times a couple of years later and was forced to sell it -- and for less than I purchased it for -- but for a short time, it was mine. And it's so much harder today to get such good Kane art for the price I purchased this -- somewhere in the vicinity between $100 and $200 at the time, if I remember rightly.
Comments
YMMV, of course.

Apparently, my computer is into Werewolf by Night this week. The random pick from Marvel 1973 is by Mike Ploog (pencils & inks).
I knew this looked familiar!
Great book!
