I like the old bullet too, but it is very dated looking now. However this new one isn't quite doing much for me. I like simple, but this doesn’t feel bold enough or creative enough for today’s marketplace. I actually like the current logo quite a bit.
That being said, I'm sure this will read better as a very small icon on your iPhone, which I'm sure was a factor in the design. But like those small icons—see Facebook, Twitter, etc.—it will look worse the larger you make it, so it loses some versatility. It really harkens back to the logo of the early ’70s (see below).
And notice how the sharp angles of the new logo all point to the left, as if they (in comic book reading terms) are pointing to the past? But maybe the graphic designer in me is reading too much into it.
Ennh, I can live with the new logo, I guess, though I think it's a downgrade from the current logo.
I'll buck the trend. I like it. It's more simplified and hearkens back to the older logos. I wasn't a big fan of the New52 logo--I didn't find it appealing (buh-dump cheee! Not my joke. I stole it. Don't skewer me.)--so this is a step up. Maybe if they added a star or two? Or a white star squarely in the middle?
This is the comic news we should be talking about... A comic book company consistently making great books across the line. And adding original, exciting new books to it. In Valiant I Trust!!

It's definitely a brand. I think the simpler logo is smart. The last one looked like some was peeling a band-aid off the "C". It also helps solidify the idea that they are moving away from the New 52 era. But these were the logos I loved as a kid and will always prefer:
The simpler logo is definitely the smarter choice. I'm sure DC wants their logo to be solidly established by the time the inevitable DC app is launched. The problem with the 1976 DC bullet is that it doesn't read as a tiny icon on your phone—it’s practically illegible. You shrink it that small, and it looks like a logo for a tire company. Whatever anyone might think about the new logo, it doesn’t have that problem. For all the past logos they could have emulated, they picked the most clearly legible.

I always thought the 2005 redesign - the one with the star swoosh - was the best of the lot. This one does seem kind of plain in comparison to what's come before it.

I think a major issue of not having a border or a drop shadow is evident on their website. The royal blue logo and the dark blue background just looks ugly. I think it needs something else to help it pop off backgrounds.
Oh good, I was really hoping DC would convert 85% of what they publish into licensed 80's properties.
Didn't think I was going to have to explain my satire so quickly! I am suggesting that this is the last gasp of DC Comics before Warners decide to license the characters to IDW and/or Boom Studios.
I am saying Dan Didio and Jim Lee are in all likelihood, DC's final Publishers.

Ah, ok, surprised I didn't get all that from the IDW logo.

Ohhhhhh. Bob Harras kills both major comic companies. Now that's the stuff of legends, and documentaries.

I guess I'm still fond of this one.

I wish they'd go back to these old cover dressings... LOL
Looks like you guys would love that 'off topic' button back :)
That "STILL ONLY 25¢" makes me want to cry.
Byrne always did the best ones;
@fredzilla I like that idea quite a bit but I made a slight change:
I'm not sure if it's better but I like the negative space.
