A day early but there's a chance I'll get busy tomorrow at the day job and might not get around to it. It's September and that means football, the start of cooler weather, autumn, and plenty of time for funnybook reading!
The "rules" are simple: Keep a post/log of everything you read and list it on here. At the end of each month pick a "winner" (ie. the book you enjoyed the most for that month) and post it in the next month's thread. Refer to the 2015 or 2014 versions creeping around here for a solid example. I tend to focus on trades, but if you want to log your single issues, go for it. Don't start a new post each time you want to add something - simply edit your existing post. I tend to bold the issues/books that really stood out each month.
New This Year: Just to mix things up...the list seems to focus on quantity, so let's add quality into the mix. If you read a book that really knocked your socks off - put a sentence or two out from it that clues the rest of us in that this might be a book worth checking out. You don't have to do it for every book, and it's probably a good idea just to keep it to a sentence or two, but I think this'll add some fun to it and maybe generate a discussion or three.

April Winner: Nisekoi Vol. 14 (Viz)
May Winner: I Hate Fairyland Vol. 1 (Image)
June Winner: Green Arrow Vol. 5: Black Arrow (DC)
July Winner: (TIE) Steve Lichman Vol. 1 for being so weirdly fun/Non Non Byori for giving me a nice escape from the horrors of this world. :)
August Winner: Darth Vader Vol. 1
September Books:
Love-o-Rama 2000 (kickstarter) - Got this book as an extra when I backed Die, Kitty Die by Dan Parent. It's a fun send-up of all those great 60s romance books...with some pervalicious funny twists thrown in for good measure. Great way to start the month.
Modern Masters: Jerry Ordway (TwoMorrows)
Huntress: Year One (DC) - Picked this up at SDCC and finally got around to reading it. I'd read the mini-series a long time back but had forgotten just how good it really was. I'm a fan of Helena in whatever form, so this was a fun read (again!).
Huntress: Crossbow at the Crossroads (DC)
Widow Archives Vol. 2 (Mike Wolfer)
Widow Archives Vol. 3 (Mike Wolfer)
Widow Archives Vol. 4 (Mike Wolfer)
Monster Musume Vol. 9 (Seven Seas)
Dorohedoro Vol. 19 (Viz)
Citrus Vol. 5 (Seven Seas)
CaseFile: Arkham Vol. 1 (01 Publishing) - Like reading a Robert Mitchum comic, if such a thing existed.
Snowpiercer: Book 1 (Titan) - Loved the movie but never read the (much darker) book. The second volume I'm reading now is equally spooky.
Snowpiercer: Book 2 (Titan)
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic vols. 1-3 (Digital) (IDW)
Black Lightning tpb - this was a great bronze age book.
Super Pro KO vol 3 - Jarrett Williams keeps getting better.our hero Joe gets his shot. King Crown Jr. defends his title, and the shocking return of a wrestling Superstar.
Nowhere Men vol 1 - I'm not sure how i felt about the book, but at least it was interesting.
Flintstones #4
Cable & Deadpool - 25-29
February Winner: Strange Fruit #1-2 - Has Mark Waid every written a stinker? (CGS Best Writer of 2015!)
March Winner: Spider-Man #1 - Miles Morales is back! YEAH!
April Winner: Peanut - This was a library book. Good story about a teen girl who switches schools and pretends she has a peanut allergy. I believe it was published several years ago.
May Winner: DC Universe: Rebirth #1 digital - DC is fun again!
June Winner: The Twilight Children TPB - I wasn't planning on reading so much Darwyn Cooke books this month, but this one was a fun little Twilight-Zone-y story. A little too adult for me to put it in my class room library which is what I was hoping for; nevertheless, the art was beautiful and the story was fun.
July Winner: DC Rebirth Bundle! - Only a couple of stinkers out of the bunch here, but overall I really enjoyed reading each book. Many of them I was interested in what was going to happen in the upcoming issues. Too bad I didn't order them. I'm not going to pay twice monthly for these. I'll likely check out the trades when I hear what's good and what doesn't stick.
August Winner: Dark Knight: A True Batman Story OGN - This reminded me a lot of Steven Seagle's It's a Bird... It was tragic, yet hopeful. It sucks that Dini had to live through this and probably still has to deal with it, but I'm sure getting this out was very cathartic for him. The art was also beautiful and changes for different parts of the story.
September Winner: Jessica Jones: Alias Vol. 4 (digital) - I bought these recently in a comiXology sale for $4 each! This was a good series, but definitely stronger in the beginning. I expected more in Volume 4 than what was in there. Perhaps the Netflix series played a part in that? I really enjoyed the Jessica Jones Netflix series, and I feel that it was slightly better than these. Regardless, this was a joy to read and I would highly recommend them.
September List:
Single Issues/Digital:
Birthright #18
Lake of Fire #1
Paper Girls #8
Collected HC/TPB/Digital
Avengers Vol. 5: Adapt or Die (digital)
Avengers Vol. 6: Infinite Avengers (digital)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 5: Through the Looking Glass (digital) - Don't know why I read this before Vol. 4, but I did. I'll probably be reading Vol. 4 next. This contained parts from the Black Vortex storyline. I don't have the rest of those issues, so this was a little confusing, but still fun with a more MCU-style Guardians.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4: Original Sin (digital)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1: Emperor Quill (digital)
Jessica Jones: Alias Vol. 1 (digital)
Jessica Jones: Alias Vol. 2 (digital)
Jessica Jones: Alias Vol. 3 (digital)
Jessica Jones: Alias Vol.
I have a stack of my regular monthly books to still read. I decided to nock out several of the trades I've had in my digital queue. It feels good to get these checked off my list. *whew!*
