Yeah. I thought he might be a misunderstood "big bad" like "oh I am doing it for the good of mankind!" Nope. He was straight up evil. I have never read a Marvel comic with Ego in it but this was a good story.
Saw it this past weekend with the family. Lots of nods to Marvel cosmic. I wasn't crazy about Stallone as "Starhawk", but I was thrilled to see Charlie 27 and Martinex.
I also liked Ego much more than I anticipated. I thought his role (and character) were pretty much inline with his comic persona, which made me very happy. Of course my girls are gaga over Baby Groot. Me not so much... I found the joke wears thin quickly.
Wonder how much I can get for my 90's Guardians comics that feature Taserface?
Thought Ego was the best villain Marvel movies have had since Loki.
Enjoyed the Stan Lee cameo confirming what many have joked about.
And generally I really like the sense James Gunn has of cramming his films as full as possible with Marvel things. It's a long way from getting excited about spotting a list of names on a screen in the second X-Men movie.

Agree 100%.
Loved seeing the Watchers. Loved the emotion in this movie. Loved Yandu's arc. Loved the flashbacks. Loved the original Guardians. Love what's coming next.
Above all I loved that Baby Groot had the cool opening credit scene AND saved the day! I did also like YOndu's arc and the appearance of the original Guardians (Starhawk, Martinex, Charlie-27). I wonder if they can do Vance Astro and Nikki (the fire-haired one?) in Volume 3? It would be funny if teenage Groot was afraid of her (because of...FIRE! Du'h). And I want to date Mantis. She was so cute compared to cutthroats Gamora and Nebula. The Sovereign? I don't know, I just felt they were bothersome. I guess that continues into Vol. 3.
The more I think about this movie the more I appreciate that they went with the continuation of Vol 1 as opposed to the need for a sequel to be louder and bigger than the first movie. Nope. Just move the story along that you started in the first movie. I hope to see this in Vol 3 but that could be more of an aftermath to Avengers.

And Miley Cyrus was as much a curveball appearance as when I read Stallone had a role.
And it stayed that good.
And gorgeous? Dang. Jean Luc Besson's upcoming film with the really long title now looks a bit bland by comparison.
So goddamn funny.
That's how to do meta.

Can not wait for the arrival of Adam.
