A very random question about Blade 1998

Do you think that Blade was supposed to be killed in the bleeding chamber? Or do they knew that Blade would only be too weak to fight back and would denounce his humanity due to the overwhelming thirst?

I think the chamber was supposed to bleed blade out and he would die. It's been a long time since I have watched it, so I could be wrong.
