Every month I tell myself I'm going to wait and place my DCBS order after I listen to the previews episode. I never do. It is like premature comic ejaculation. As soon as the site updates for a new month...Boom! Studios I am there!

Can I use "Boom! Studios!" as a swear word? Cuz I think I like it! ;)

First off, I know you guys are sticklers for pronunciations. Samnee rhymes with omni.

I had a few of Kubert’s Tarzan comics when I was a kid, and I thought they were great. Still do, in fact. I give his version a slight edge over John Buscema’s, which was pretty darn good in its own right. As for why the original art exists, Kubert was the editor and writer as well as the artist for Tarzan. It’s no wonder he was able to sneak the artwork out of the office. I wish I could afford to buy this. Except for maybe the Wally Wood Artist’s Edition, this is the one I would get out of those that have been produced so far.

The Comics about Cartoonists book appears to me to be mostly fiction stories. It’s edited by Craig Yoe, who deals almost exclusively in reprinting comics in the public domain. There simply aren’t very many comics about artists that are both in the public domain and biographic in nature, so I expect it will mostly be fiction stories with fictional artists and fiction stories where the artist drew himself into the story (and there are plenty of those to choose from).

For the most part, I agree with Mike about Dynamite’s John Carter comics. I thought the writing on the main title was pretty good, but I dropped it a few months ago when it no longer fit in my budget. The Dejah Thoris spin-off was mediocre at best, and as Mike said, bordered on softcore porn at times. I got the three issues I ordered, and dropped it as soon as I could.

The two highlights for me this month are Steed & Mrs. Peel—I’m a big fan of the TV series—and Underwater Welder.

I thought for sure that once you guys got to the IDW section, @JamieD would mention the introduction of Golgotha to Byrne's Trio series. I'm really excited to see this, and the possible inclusion of the Torch of Liberty at some point as well. Might Danger Unlimited be woven into this universe as well sometime...?

Really glad to see Mind Mgmt #1 get some love. Grabbed it off the rack after seeing a preview of the art. The bold sci-fi concepts had me hooked early on, but it also has elements of a great chase story. All with a unique and very pretty art style. Really neat stuff.

In terms of new readers being potentially confused by the whole zero issue thing, I don't think that'll be much of a problem because as successful as the reboot has been for them, the results of that Nielsen survey show that an overwhelming majority of the "new" readers brought in by their efforts aren't new to comics, just new to DC Comics. In fact, it was really interesting to see how they spun that, as all of the pre-release hype was "we want to attract new audiences who may have not read comics for years, or at all," and post-survey it was all "Look how much more of the existing fanbase we've now captured!"

Clearly the new 52 has been successful for DC and retailers alike, but I wouldn't worry too much about the new people getting confused. Most of them have actually been around for awhile.

Oh, and Jamie D., get reading on Amelia Rules already. Better still, share it with the nieces and nephew. Brilliant comics for kids that are also entertaining as hell for grown-ups. Anyone who can't laugh at The Sneeze-Barf Incident isn't worth knowing.

Glad you guys seemed interested in Comixtribe's Scam 1 written and drawn by Joe Mulvey. He sounded familiar because he was at the Super Wildpig show next to Chris Sotomayer who I believe recolored Scam 1 after it was picked up for national distribution.

I recommend the book. I picked up issue 1 and a sketch cover he drew for me at the show.

Finally read issue #1 this morning, and it was as good as I expected. I don't think this was mentioned on the show, but in case you are waiting on the trade for this one, you'll be missing out on some extra content. Matt included a background story—half a page on the inside front cover and half a page on the inside back cover—that won't be reprinted in the trade. He’s going to be doing something along those lines in every issue. Also, the back covers of the first six issues will interlock to reveal a code that unlocks extra content on the Mind Mgmt website. If you like a well told story filled with intrigue and mystery, I highly recommend picking this up.

Yes, yes it is. The wrong name slipped out; what I said on the air was "Toei," which is a major Japanese film and animation studio that has produced (among a great many other things) TV series and movies relating to the Dragonball and Sailor Moon franchises, but that, to the best of my knowledge, has nothing to do with Godzilla. I apologize for the error.

@MikeGallagher - You said "Carlos," not "Carla."

(at first I gave you the benefit of the doubt that the words "Carla" and "Speed" just blended together, but I hit the back 30 seconds button and no, you said "Carlos" and then paused)

Hey, Bryan, was that a joke when you said that Underwater Welder should be on the first page? 'Cause technically, it really IS on the FIRST page of Previews..on the FLIPSIDE! Anyway...
After a down month, I guess my order is going back over $100 this month. Ugh. I'm getting lesser Marvel, but then I'm getting double-shipped with Daredevil, Avengers Academy and Captain Marvel. Then for DC with the DCBS Watchmen bundle not existing this month and with a couple of the Annuals, I'm getting more! Plus, I gotta get my once-yearly Love and Rockets fix! Yep, I'm definitely gonna go over.

Yeah, Mike! I've been reading a lot of the Hernandez Bros. stuff since the late 80's. And after they printed a couple of my letters in the (I guess) second volume of L&R and then in the 3rd volume (the current tradepaper-style one?), I was definitely hooked on their stuff! ;-) I even met 'Beto at Seattle Comic Con a couple of years ago.
