Yeah, this one is a little flummoxing. Dude was an ABSOLUTE LEGEND. He was on my list of one of the people I HAD to meet before the chance wouldn't be around anymore. He will be missed.
We've lost a true legend of the industry. His upcoming book for DC is the first one I've ordered since dropping them last August. The fact that this is probably his very last work, it will be even more special. RIP, Joe, and thanks for the memories.
Had a chance to interview him and then meet him, truly a classy man, and a true legend of the industry, he will be missed and my condolences to the entire Kubert family
Mr kubert with all the amazing art you've done and with your school you have done more the comic book industry than anyone has or will do.You will be missed sir
He's been a presence in the field for so long it's difficult to imagine not seeing anymore work from him. But the work he did! Extroadinary! Thank you for work. Mr Kubert. Rest in peace.
I was just rereading the Showcase Presents Unknown Soldier earlier this week. Mr Kubert is the reason I got into war comics back in the early 80s. And even now anytime I find a book with his art on the cover or on the interiors in the cheap bins I have to pick it up.
Kubert was one of those artists whose work was so good, so perfectly crafted, that it was hard not to pick up anything that he drew. Even if the story wasn't to my liking, his art always excelled. You really have to go back far to his beginnings to see any roughness in his work, and even then there was something interesting going on. The industry was great for his presence, and a little bit diminished with his passing.
