Updated the title since I had my questions answered but wanted to keep the thread going in a more general fashion. Please to enjoy.Hey,
@Pants or anyone else... I don't have many "grail pages" in terms of original comic art (most anything I'd really, really want is most likely FAR beyond my price range), but I've always wanted the original art for one of the old comic strip Hostess ads that ran in comics for so many years. Don't even care about the character or the product - it could be Kite-Man selling mung-flavored fruit pies for all I care - I'd just love to own one someday. Do these ever turn up anywhere? How (and where) would I go about looking? And what's a good ballpark range for these?

They do turn up from time to time. I searched the database at Heritage Auctions and found three from back in May that were sold. They ranged in price from about $540 to $1600:
Captain Marvel by Mike Esposito
Thor by Sal Buscema and Joe Sinnot and
Batman and Robin by Dick Giordano
Heritage Auctions and ComicLink are good places to look for them as well as eBay.
I only saw one dealer that had any for sale right now:
Hawkman by Curt Swan
Hope this helps.
That Thor one kills me... hillbillies in Asgard. Love. It. :D
I wasn't the brightest kid, in some respects.
I mean, come on, you have product, I have money, and you should act to take my money in exchange for product, right? I mean, that's always been my understanding of how commerce works. That's pretty much how Mr. Reed taught it back in civics class, anyway.
Now I want a Twinkie
Are you sure that was a Dell comic? Dell was pretty much extinct as a comic publisher when the Hostess ads were done -- likely it was a Gold Key or a Whitman publication?
In the meantime, I finally got around to putting scans of most of the art (mostly sketches and sketch cards) I do own up in galleries on Comic Art Fans. Anyone else on CAF (besides Pants, found him right away!)? Share the links and let's all ooh and aah over the artwork!
Mine is missing stuff from sdcc this year but otherwise up to date.
@nweathington here are those printing plates I was talking about. there are a few more, both marvel and DC. But this gives you the idea.
