I've never seen these before. After a little poking around, I did find something very similar called Diamond Prints, featuring the band Kiss, which were distributed in Australia in 1979.
The style matches up, and the date fits, so my guess is these plates were used for a Marvel Comics Diamond Prints set distributed overseas, though I can find no evidence to support this theory.
I am gleeful right now. Full of glee. Because this showed up in the mail today.
I've been a big Mike Wieringo fan for years, and his far-too-soon death 5 years ago upset me terribly because I never got the chance to meet him at a con and tell him in person how awesome I thought he was. I'm happy, then, that at least I can now own some small part of his legacy. This page is extra meaningful to me in that it's not only from one of my favorite Spidey stories ever, but the story that pretty much cemented my status as a Mike Wieringo fan. It also has one of these scenes where they cheat and make the eyes on Spidey's mask emotive. I love that.
Still sad I never got to meet the man, but I'm happy to now own some small part of his legacy.
As a friend of Mike’s, I wish you had met him too. He was indeed awesome, not only as an artist but as a human being. I’m glad the page found its way into a true fan’s hands, and I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

I truly appreciate the sentiment, Eric! That means a lot, especially since your Modern Masters volume on Mike was the first one I ever bought. A fantastic read, and one I still take on the shelf and thumb through a few times a year.
Resurrecting this old thread because it seemed to be the only relevant one I could find. This is the only piece of original comic art I own. From 'Green Lantern' #180. Right before the 'final issue' of the Kyle Rayner run. It was between this page or the one where Kyle comes home early to find Jade in the apartment with another man. The page (from a previous issue) where he's sneaking in the window with a construct bouquet of flowers. I ended up choosing this one because of Kyles interaction with his mother reminded me of my own mom. So it had both geeky AND sentimental value.
Sorry for the image of the original page itself. Too big for my scanner so I had to resort to my camera phone...
Anyone else on CAF (besides Pants, found him right away!)? Share the links and let's all ooh and aah over the artwork!
I have a few pages in a CAF gallery, but pretty much everything is at Mxyzptlk.com. I'm looooong overdue to add something new to the collection, but that darned mortgage keeps getting in the way.
actually i just realized that most of what I've bought in the last two years and none of my sketch covers appear to be posted. Man, I need to get on that!
