Over the next few years, Cap would clash / team-up with the Man Of Steel in a handful of adventures, including this DC Comics Presents Annual by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. Kane did a spectacular cover for this particular encounter.
As an addendum to this, it turns out that this issue and the other Superman/Captain Marvel clashes are being collected in a trade (titled, straightforwardly enough, as Superman vs Shazam!) and are in the just-released January solicits. What a coincidence!
And Oksner did do a little work for Marvel in the ’40s on into the ’50s, though most of his work at that time was done for Standard. Unfortunately, he was given very little cover work. As far as I know, these are his only two covers for Marvel:

By the by, the little elf in the bottom right corner is a self-caricature José uses from time to time. He also used him on his Modern Masters cover, also in the bottom right corner.

@nweathington Yeah, Eric, I think it's the Supergirl covers that I've really noticed -- so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Lois Lane cover!
