I'm really jazzed for this movie. I like that TDK was a crime thriller, Thor 2 looks to be similar to a Lord of the Rings, & this is a political thriller. Each one fits with the specific character, can make the sequel fresh, & shows the diversity of the character from the 1st movies.

100% with you on that one. The genre within a genre makes me happy. Captain America as a political thriller is brilliant.

Brubaker and Epting moved Captain America forward by showing what could be done with the character. Thankfully the powers that be recognized this and used the story for the basis of this movie.
Think it's looking pretty great and I can't wait. But I still think the winter soldier should've been saved for later. The first sequel should've focused on caps adjusting to his new world and introducing new threats and characters then do winter soldier w maximum effect.

I'm thinking that the next movie might be the return of a Teseract toting Red Skull.

For me, at least, the Cap2 trailer made MAoS seem better. It helped that the fifth episode had the best script yet. (And, yes, the acting is getting better, too. I kinda liked Agent Stiffy for the first time.)

I have not read any stories featuring the Winter Soldier and I shan't be watching this movie, either. I think it was a poor storytelling decision and I prefer to imagine the last decade or so of Cap stories did not happen. I hope to come back for the third flick. That's just crazy talk. Well, that was a bit harsh. I apologize. Your stance isn't much different then my refusal to see Into Darkness. I like the idea of re-booting the franchise. Just not for the purpose of retelling stories. Anyway, comic and movie continuity are two very different things. It doesn't make sense to spite one to support the other.

I couldn't agree more. Although I really like Jason Todd returning as the Red Hood (more so going against Batman then in the group), HIS dead meant something to Batman. It changed his methods for a while.
When Uncle Ben, Gwen, & Osborne died, THEIR deaths meant something to Spider-Man.
We're being coy here, but it's been long enough for people (at least on this forum) to know who the Winter Soldier is in the comics. Although Bucky died heroically, I cannot recall ever hearing HIS death affecting Cap. I don't think bringing him back poo pooed on his death like the above characters. I actually think it enhanced the character & made him more then a 1 dimential character.

His death affected him a lot in the comics early on. He carried around the guilt on top of dealing with being a man out of his time.
