A humiliating display on my part as @Adam_Murdough goes 3 for 4 against me, beating me like I stole something. Brings our career record against each other to 1-1. And, no, that wasn't an intentional softball at the end. Total brain fart. For some reason, I thought Murd didn't read "Saga."
I submitted one awhile back (like a LONG time ago) and never heard anything about if it was used or even if it was an acceptable submission. If it's ever used, someone tag me please!
Anyone know if it was ever used? (Probably a hard question to answer actually since I don't know if it was ever received/accepted as an acceptable submission)
Veni, Vidi, Muddi. (From the Latin, meaning "I came, I saw, I was muddled.")
In what many observers are saying will go down as one of the greatest moments in @Adam_Murdough's already illustrious career in the National Muddle League (NML), "Murd" hits a full court buzzer beater to "yoink" victory from the jaws of defeat against yours truly.
QUESTION #1 - Independent 2000 onward: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Q: The Image book "Low" by Rick Remender takes place in a far flung future where all of humanity lives in underwater cities. During the course of the series, 3 different cities are shown. What is the name of the underwater city inhabited by pirates? A: Poluma.
Analysis: So far, so good! Murd is familiar with the book but is still a decade away from reading it. He does however come up with the very amusing (not to mention, far superior) name, "Buccaneeropolis."
QUESTION #2 - Marvel pre 1970s: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Q - In Avengers #28 (May, 1966), the team has to rescue The Wasp from the diabolical clutches of what 2 super villains? A - The Collector and The Beetle.
Analysis: Murd guesses "Whirlwind" as one of the 2, and head referee, Pants, blows the play dead. I'm now up by 2 with 1 question remaining. Sweet victory right within my grasp! I thought Murd had a shot at this one, as the issue is noteworthy for being the 1st appearance of both The Collector and Goliath, as well as marking Hank Pym and The Wasp's return to the team. I did, however, think the pairing of The Collector and the Beetle would be enough to throw him off though.
QUESTION #3 - DC 1970 - 2000: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Q - In Teen Titans #46 (February, 1977), the Titans try to thwart The Fiddler's plan to attack a "Battle of the Bands" concert featuring analogs of both "The Carpenters" and "Paul McCartney & Wings." Name 1 of these 2 fictional bands. (Bonus points if Murd can tell us what the surprise plot twist was at the end.) A - "The Woodworkers" or "Peter McCarthy and The Flyers." (Plot twist: The Titans discover that both bands are made up of the same people, but in disguise.)
Analysis: "With the clock winding down, Murd is on his way to being Muddled ... and, wait, what? OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?? YES!!!"
With the last question, I knew it was obscure, so I made sure to word it in such a way so as to give Murd a fighting chance to yoink it out of thin air, and, man oh man, he didn't disappoint.
For what it's worth, Murd, I was rooting for ya. Listened to this one on the way into work this morning and decided to finish it once I got to my office. I actually laughed out loud and threw my arms up in the air in appreciative "triumph" for you. Congrats! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, to summarize:
