Saw "War for the Planet of the Apes" last night and quite enjoyed it. Rotten Tomatoes has it at a 95% + rating, which struck me as a bit high. Definitely on par with the first 2 though.
Lots of cool Easter eggs to the original series, and the character "Bad Ape" in one particular scene caused me to laugh louder in a theater than I ever have before.
If you liked the 1st 2 installments, you'll like this one.
I'm interested in seeing it. Glad to hear it's living up to the previous films' qualities.
You know how you can tell Comic-Con International: San Diego is going on? Everyone is talking about movies and TV shows, and no one is talking about comics.

Well. Some of the comic book news out of SDCC was genuinely cool.
This doesn't please me at all. One of my best friends has inked Sonic for years, and now he's out of a job.
I'm so, so sorry Eric. I was referring more to the fans of the comic, not necessarily any employees related to it. I hope your friend can find other work. Maybe Archie can find something for him.

Oh, I know. No worries. He does other stuff for Archie too, but they've been cutting his workload for the past several years. Sonic was the gig he did month in, month out. The rest is just random stories in the classic style, which they're doing less and less of.

Having Plastic Man on a team with Metamorpho is kind of redundant. 'Morpho can do pretty much anything Plas can do, plus a whole lot more. One of my first comics was the Brave & the Bold with both of them teaming up with Batman, and I loved the competitiveness they had in the story, but that would get old pretty quick. Still, they're two of my favorite characters (I have a sketchbook that's all Plastic Man), and it's Jeff Lemire with a good artist, so I'll be giving it a try.

Jeff Lemire + good artist + Plastic Man + Fanastic Four analog = "DC take my money"
I could do without the FF analog. All I need is Lemire + Plastic Man + decent artist or Lemire + Metamorpho + decent artist or Lemire + good artist, and I'll give it a shot.

I'm fine with just Lemire, but icing on the cake is a welcome indulgence

I'm great with just Lemire if it's his creator-owner work. But he's hit or miss for me when he's working with corporate-owned properties and editorial mandates. Loved his Moon Knight and Hawkeye, but didn't care very much for his Animal Man or Old Man Logan.
Does anyone know of a good resource that has a searchable list of comic books in order of release date? Preferably a database where you can filter by publisher, date, etc?

IDW has announced their own Sonic comic is now in production. If anyone knows how to handle a licensed property, it's IDW.
Other announcements...? Not so much...
YMMV
No pun intended, but I think the Terrifics looks fantastic. I'm excited to try a DC book for the first time since Post-Flashpoint DC launched.
Tea then lemonade. 3/2 tea 1/3 lemonade ;)
A John daily is 1/3 tea, 1/3 lemonade and 1/3 Jack. I prefer a 1/3 Jim Beam or Rye Whiskey, but those are not true Johnny D's ;)
