Mad Max: Fury Road - 8 Bit Cinema SPOILER ALERT: The “game” goes through the entire film, so if you for some reason haven’t seen the movie yet, beware some serious pixelated spoilers.
This winter, Bill Murray brings an extra-special dose of holiday cheer to Netflix with the premiere of an all-star musically-driven holiday special, A Very Murray Christmas. Set inside New York City’s iconic Carlyle hotel, A Very Murray Christmas opens with Murray preparing to host a live, international holiday broadcast. After a blizzard shuts down the production, he makes the best of the situation by singing and celebrating with friends, hotel employees and anyone else who drops by.
Well, Chris, I'm fond of He-Man & MotU as a property--used to love the action figures and the Filmation cartoon--but I've never seen the live-action movie, and I've always sort of assumed that my life has been the richer for it. Care to make a case for the defense?

Well, if Frank Langella turning in a scenery-chewing performance as Skeletor isn't enough (he once described it as one of his favorite roles), then you will surely enjoy Bill Conti's score. It was also America's first introduction to Courteny Cox (Friends), Billy Barty played a great Yoda-ish Gwildor, James Tolkan plays a detective (fresh off his role as Principal Strickland in Back to the Future), a lovely Meg Foster plays Evil-Lyn...
Ah, I could go on, but admittedly it's not a very good Masters of the Universe movie. If it had been created with nothing to do with Masters of the Universe and was just another random 80's sci-fi movie, people probably would've loved it. It's a guilty pleasure and I think you owe it to yourself at least give this objectively bad film with a big heart one free viewing on the interwebs. No guarantees of a richer or poorer life, only 2 hours that you'll never get back :)

I was also a huge He-Man fan. As a kid I thought the movie was great simply because it was called "He-Man." I do remember being disappointed that it wasn't anything like the cartoon. I tried watching it on Netflix about a week ago and it's horrendous. It would make good fodder for MST3K though.
Oh, and @Adam_Murdough , for what it's worth, the cartoon itself was utterly ridiculous too (see link), so if you're a fan of the property, you can probably stomach the movie... :)
@bralinator , @Adam_Murdough and anyone else intrigued by some stories behind The Masters of the Universe movie--
In case you hadn't seen this already, a writer at SlashFilm has been putting together Oral Histories to go along with movies featured on the How Did This Get Made podcast. He tends to get a lot of great access. For example, here is his list of all the people he got to talk to regarding MOTU-
Tom Kalinske Mattel, President Tim Kilpin Mattel, Marketing Manager for Masters of the Universe Joe Morrison Mattel, EVP of Marketing John Weems Mattel, SVP of Entertainment Anthony De Longis Actor (Blade) Chelsea Field Actress (Teela) Lillian Glass Dialogue Coach (Dolph Lundgren) Gary Goddard Director William Stout Production Designer
And the director shared some set photos with him to use. They are a lot of fun. HDTGM recently did an episode on Masters... and here is the accompanying feature.
