Look, I've been defending the Man of Steel wall since I first saw the movie. Despite my reservations, I've tried to defend BvS:DoJ...but the more trailers, tv spots, merchandise, etc I see the more I'm convinced this is going to be a hot mess. It'll be like Michael Bay's Transformers movies; a lot of action & 'pretty scenes' but no depth. The Trinity deserves better. I'm hoping I'm wrong about the movie. As things look, I'll probably have to wait for a Netflix view.
It's gotten to the point I was looking at one of the Batman figures & wondering if I should get one. Then I remember it's Ben Affleck & immediately put it back onto the shelf.
No doubt this movie will do $1-1.5 billion, but I bet it'll be mostly from opening weekend.
To quote Han Solo "I have a bad feeling about this".
I have a bad feeling too. It all feels so shallow.
But yeah, you hand the keys to the multiverse to a director who only has 1 movie over 70% on Rotten Tomatoes and what can you expect? Making things go boom is all Snyder knows.
I lost any all hope for this movie after seeing MoS (or whatever was to come once knowing it would be connected to MoS). But I expect it to be "better" or at least more enjoyable than MoS (for me) and undoubtedly more watchable and re-watchable. Beyond the expected eye candy and novelty of multiple dc characters sharing the screen, but for this interpretation of Batman. Against my better judgement I'm hopeful and optimistic this will be the most overall satisfying Movie Batman to date (for my tastes). At least tone and visuals? Just sad he's all but guaranteed to be surrounded by crap and nonsense in most every way.
Had a talk with 5 of my coworkers yesterday about this movie. (I am the only comics reader in the group, one other person watches super hero tv shows, everyone goes to the movies)
Everyone agreed the trailers look terrible. None of the 5 want to see the movie. No one likes the idea of Ben Affleck as Batman and everyone thought Lex Luthor is going to be awful.
This means nothing. If this does however reflect the ideas of the general audience, it could be that this movie makes a lot of money but lower than "expectations"

After every trailer & tv spot my wife has seen, she tells me she has no interest in seeing the movie. She was completely opposite for the Nolan movies.
Honestly, so far after seeing all this stuff now I've got the best feelings about and most interest for WW. Loving the time period and the tone. And she's looking much better in motion than I anticipated. Does look like too dull/dark of a color palette ala MoS. They can and probably will push the feminism element too hard, but I'm encouraged and enthused by the footage.
So WB announced today that there will be an R-rated cut available on Blu-Ray.
First, c'mon guys, I mean I know deadpool was a thing but seriously, you're already hopping on that bandwagon?
Second, does it bother anyone else that there was even the capability to cut an R-rated version? Makes me think they really don't understand the properties they are handling. Suicide Squad, sure, but an R-rated Superman movie?!?

An R-rated Wonder Woman is potentially a much worse prospect.

It feels like the film equivalent to the New52. Trying to force feed "fans" what they didn't ask for and don't really want. Thankfully it will be on the BR release so I may still be able to take my son (10) to see it. That said, I did like Man of Steel (although too visually dark and violent for Supes film), and I'm still excited to see this.
On a side note... I'm a fan of the LOTR films (re: Extended Editions), and was excited for The Hobbit, and was really let down by The Battle of Five Armies. As a completist, I bought all three extended editions of The Hobbit as they came out. I haven't had time to actually watch them yet, but I was looking at the back of TBoFA and noticed the extended edition has an R-rating. I'm assuming it's for violence, but still... an R-rating? Oy vey.

I find it disturbing but not unexpected from someone like Zack Snyder. For all of his chest puffing, trying to convince the public that he gets the character, he doesn't. Maybe he gets the character from the Frank Miller point-of-view but Mr. Miller doesn't get the character of Superman either.

Announcing an R-rated cut of this movie in the weeks following Deadpool's success is further affirmation for me that, "no," Zack Snyder STILL doesn't get Superman.

But if I can swing a matinee showing in, I will.
