Today’s entry from the DC cover-a-day calendar: Green Lantern Corps vol. 2, #20 (Mar. 2008), pencils by Patrick Gleason, inks by Prentiss Rollins, colors by Moose Baumann. Almost at the halfway point of the year, and this is one of the few covers in the calendar from this century that I haven’t disliked.
Adventure comics #431 by Aparo. I really like Jim Aparo he drew just about every DC character in the 70s. #431 marks a nice run of spectre in adventure; it also ushered in a more vengeful and gritty take on the Spectre written by Mike Fleischer.
Aparo was a big fan of the EC books in his late teens, early 20s, so he really enjoyed working on “The Spectre”. A couple of assistant editors went up to his house to visit once, and they were digging through his art files. Aparo told them they could each have any page they wanted... as long as it wasn’t a “Spectre” page.
Today we have The Spectre (1987) #9 by Mike Mignola. The series was not good, but it had great artists. The incredible Gray Morrow did a lot of the art for this run. This cover shows real flashes of what is to come from Mike Mignola.
Today’s entry from the DC cover-a-day calendar: Wonder Woman #178 (Sept.-Oct. 1968), pencils by Mike Sekowsky, inks by Dick Giordano—where Wonder Woman goes from Diana Prince to Diana Rigg. ;)
Today I am posting a series of painted covers from the 1992 Spectre series. This particular series had great writing (Ostrander), art (Tom Mandrake for all but one or two issues), and covers. The '92 Spectre had lots of painted covers, so we will start with #20 and Bill Sienkiewicz.
Finally I give #22 by Alex Ross. If I ever win the lottery I'm going to track this one down. Mullet Superman holding the spear of destiny facing off against The Spectre.
Tomorrow I will conclude this little cover series.

Cardiac was so underused, even when he appeared in Superior Spider-Man. He had a good concept going for him (like Puma and The Rose).
