I actually thought that Kelsey Grammar as Beast was pretty excellent casting. He had the look in makeup, would have actually worked as a pre-blue hair Hank McCoy, and his voice is actually who I've heard in my head ever since.
I love me some KG as Beast.
if only he could have done something about those tossed salads and scrambled eggs.
I'm just curious... does anyone know if Chris Claremont and John Byrne are getting any compensation for this movie? They did plot and write the original storyline upon which it was based. Or did FOX get the free reign to adapt any X-Men storyline when they licensed the properties? Anyone know the details on this?
Although I am sure many creators get the shaft, I wouldn't be surprised if either Claremont and/or Bryne get some form of compensation for "Days of Future Past". I'm pretty sure Byrne was one of the first creators at Marvel to negotiate himself a "royalty" from the books he did, on top of his standard page rate. At the height of his popularity at Marvel, when he was doing double duty on both Alpha Flight and FF, some months he could have been potentially pulling in close to 100K as a result of those royalties. With a deal like that, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of clause in there about future usage.
I know Len Wein doesn't get anything. He's said that on CGS once, about how he's gotten a check for Lucius Fox, but nothing for Wolverine.

Not quite right. He gets nothing for Wolverine appearing in films, but did get a cheque for The Wolverine, because of how the title was worded.
Saw it again with some friends last night. They all liked it.
It still bothers me that when Quicksilver beat up all the cops, he puts on headphones and listens to music... even though he was moving for one fraction of a second. What was the point of that?
What was Magnetos plan regarding Mystique anyway? He knows they need her DNA... but his plan was to what? Blow her brains out all over the room? Silly Magneto....
"Michael Egan III said in a previous court filing that he wanted to dismiss the lawsuit, not because it lacks merit but because he can't find a new lawyer to represent him."
After watching Days of Future Past, I'm wondering which continuity in the movies is now the real one. Or did we watch an alternative universe?
re: the real one
The movie makes direct references to every single movie. So, for me that means they are all in continuity, within the context of the x-men movie universe. Now, at the end obviously there've been some changes. I believe, as a serious fan of the x-men movies, that what we're meant to believe is that Wolverine meets the X-Men under somewhat similar circumstances he did in the first movie and that many of the events in movies two and 3 may have happened, but that Jean and Scott survived.
Some fans, for whatever reason, have chosen to say that DOFP means that X2, X3, Origins and Wolverine are no longer part of the series, despite them being directly referenced and Wolverine having memories of all of it. If you showed a new fan just First Class and DOFP, many of Wolverines reactions wouldn't make any sense because they'd be completely without context.
With the next movie being some kind of in-between movie, who knows what kind of timelines will be altered anyway. I kinda wish they would get out of the past. If they want to use different X-Men, good. But move forward, into the future, not stuck between 1965 and 1985.

I think those movies DO exist, but with revisions. The first half of Origins happened...but I think the whole bit with how he got the adamantium was altered. They already build in an amnesia angle to negate the special bullet.
Charles knows the events that unfold in the future...so why not correct his mistake with burying the Phoenix aspect of Jean. That would alter the end of X2, and thus heavily revise X3. If X3 had heavily revisions, potentially eliminating Jean's death...which means Logan doesn't go into hiding like in The Wolverine.
If Charles knows how things unfold (when he mind melds with Logan), I can't imagine he wouldn't alter some of his future decisions.
SO...everything that happened, happened. Logan recalls it, which is why Charles stated "you have some catching up to do." With the next one, we're essentially seeing the new altered timeline. It wouldn't surprise me if Charles isn't walk & Eric isn't with the group when Jean is recruited.

"I have not seen a dime off of any Marvel stuff, nor do I have a credit on the Wolverine film. Hugh Jackman is a lovely man, and at the premiere he told the audience that he owed his career to me and had me take a bow. It was very gratifying and very nice. I would have preferred a check."

I'm not that impressed or concerned.

I was going off his quote:
