Just wanted to remind everybody that today (July 10) is Drake Burroughs' (Wildfire) birthday. Make sure you transmit those holocards asap! That is all.
Okay, so I've been slowly but steadily plucking my way through the old episodes--I'm on episode 31 right now, and I believe it was Darren just made a prediction that Batgirl post-Battle for the Cowl would be Selina.
...Part of me says that would be the most horrible idea in the world, but another part of me would read the HELL out of that.
One thing that might interest you guys--so I've read bits and pieces of other stuff, including some of the Baxter reboot and what happens after the man leaves the title, so when I opened up a preview for Red Hood & The Outlaws #11, I was surprised to see that The Blight were involved with this story.
Whether you hate the book or not, seeing some of the old Legion villains used in other ways has to be kinda cool. :)
So, I'm listening through your Eye for an Eye episodes (great episodes/story so far, BTW), and I you guys just dropped a bomb on me that Ditko drew the Legion in the 80s. That is insane--I thought he pretty much just did his own indie things as soon as he left Marvel. :O
Oh Ditko's got all kinds of Legion work in the eighties. It's a real treat. Now. When I was a kid reading the issues, I was most definitely less than impressed to see his style on the Legion. But over the years, I've kinda come to an appreciation of his Legion work. Especially since he did a couple of chapters of the Reflecto Saga!

It is also my birthday and want to say it's @Webhead birthday as well.

I shall have to track down those issues. I am always on the look out for comics with Ditko artwork that I don't own.
You'll be looking for Superboy and the Legion #s 267 - the origin of the flight ring 268 - classic legion villain Dr. Mayavale 272 - origin of Blok 274 - a funeral and spae pirates 276 - Mordru 281 - Reflecto
And I think that there's one more issue that comes sometime before issue 260 because I remember picking up back issues and seeing that Chuck and Lu got a back-up story and then being bummed that it was yet another issue by Ditko.
So I'm listening to #46 right now, and Beast Boy's woes about women not liking him and Darren's, "Now before you try beastiality, maybe you should try being a homosexual" was quite possibly the funniest line from this show yet. :D
I just wanted to share with fellow LSHers a treasure the great Barry Kitson created for me after the Denver Comic Con. He was so amazing - staying after for hours, creating art for the organizers - because he knew that we didn't have a chance to go around and hang out with our own guests. The guy is a class act, (and I'm in love again with his take on Phantom Girl.)
Slipping below the 20K mark for the first time since Diamond started providing the current set of figures in March 2003.
This might make me a pariah, but I wonder if maybe Levitz should let it go? I mean, the modern stuff hasn't been BAD, but I think it's fair to say the whole Legion side of the DCU could use some fresh blood.

Disagree in a big way. Looking at the other recent takes on Legion, he's at least trying to extend he story and not just retell or reinterpret the same stories.
I'd suggest that it has far more to do with the continuous perpetuation of the myth that Legion is impenetrable and the fact that it exists largely in an isolated part of the DC Universe where it may be easily marginalized in favor of 8 batman titles.

Eh, the whole Dominator story...it isn't BAD, it's just not exactly setting my world on fire. And you mean to tell me that the fact that current writer or the main Legion book being the same guy who wrote it for decades doesn't add anything to that "impenetrable" myth?
In ep 198 you mentioned a Batman story in which he hunts down criminals in a swamp. What issue was that? You said it was your favourite Batman story ever.

Was it in a 100-page Super Spectacular issue with a Manhunter back-up?

I'm really still an eight-year-old.
But I think this is hilarious.
I just printed a batch of business cards for folks whose last names were: Bulger, Dickert, Johnson & Wang.
@RainbowCloak, where are you?
Yue.
That is all.

"Mysterious yet foreboding"? Harvest? Sheesh.
Less than 20,00 Legion readers left?
How the heck did this happen?

Levitz is certainly a good choice for doing so. Here's hoping the addition of Giffen to the mix will get some attention.
Welcome home!
