Things we know: 1: Male 2: An Iconic Character 3: Not yet introduced in the New 52.
I still argue that only one and two count as things we know. Number three is an inference made by con reports that I don't think are direct quotes and even if they were could be interpreted otherwise. The direct publicity quote given to ABC News only verifies 1 and 2.
"a character not seen since the relaunch will come out as gay,"
I can't even tell which character(s) haven't shown up yet :-/
The only person I can think of who fits the qualifiers of iconic, male and hasn't shown up yet is Wally West. (I don't consider the Atom to be iconic and Hawkman was mentioned but haven't we already seen him? And his iconicity is debatable anyway)
Or maybe we're going to travel to Earth-3.
Shazam has been mentioned and we haven't actually seen him yet, so that's a possibility, too, I guess.
Jean-Paul Valley? Sure he's not iconic, but he was Batman for a little bit and Batman's iconic (OK, I'm stretching now)
I don't regularly read Green Lantern. Have we seen John Stewart yet? He'd be a double minority. Extra diversity points!
And also keep in mind that the use of the word "character" and not "super hero" may very well have been deliberate.
There has been gay characters but none with their own ongoing book and I bet they will do it to boost a book that is low so Hawkman or Superboy is my bet. I would say Firestorm but the whole 2 men merging into one hero is a little TOO obvious.
I say it will be an Earth-2 version of a character.
The media won't get it. Earth-2 means nothing to them..they'll hear "Batman" and "Gay" and report that. People will be outraged/happy that Batman(or whoever it is) is gay and sales will bump up slightly.
We'll all realize that the "real" Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman/etc isn't gay but DC will get their 15 mins of media fame.

In World's Finest Kara & Helena discuss the death of Lois and its effect on Superman.

But of course, the clarification that it really is someone that hasn't been introduced yet eliminates him anyway.

herocharacter that we haven't seen yet.Joker?
next guess: new and improved joker
Ohhhh yeaaaah.
I can see DC are moving into more 'adult' stories.

It could be Alan Scott.
I guess they wouldn't be wrong.
