I'm getting a lot of questions about Peter Quill's "sex crime" as listed on his rap sheet in the trailer - "illegal manipulation of a Gramosian Duchess." Just to explain, Quill was seduced by the Duchess and, as anyone who has been to Gramos knows, it's illegal for regular folk to be intimate with royalty there. So there you go.
Looks like you can scratch "Planet Hulk" off your list of upcoming Marvel movies ...
There has been speculation on the interwebs that "Planet Hulk" may be in the works as GotG was going to incorporate the Sakaaran into their film. Well, hold on a second there, babalooey! According to James Gunn in a recent podcast (not with CGS? You bastard!) apparently they were supposed to be Badoon:
One of those nuggets is that while Marvel Studios has partial rights to the Skrulls, they do not own the Badoon, which is why we'll see the Sakaaran in the movie.
And, along with Swagger, I get the distinct, and unusual, impression that the marketing people behind the trailer and poster have some faith in the product. Unlike a certain warlord from mars I could name.

Unlike WoM, I think GotG got the lead right. Think about it. If WoM had someone like Josh Brolin as the lead. It would have destroyed the box office.

It's still possible to do Planet Hulk (not that I particularly expect it). Just rename the planet.
1.) After watching this trailer a couple more times, I still don't have any real interest in this movie.
2.) I think its interesting your normal eye candy for ladies, Bradley Cooper & Vin Diesel, are regulated to voicing characters.
3.) it might be because I've only seen the movie 1-2 times, but I didn't think about Reservoir Dogs when I hear that song. It reminds me of Ally McBeal, which is weird because I've only seen about 10 minutes of the show. The dancing baby bit & Portia DeRosa stripping down to a polka dot bra & panty set.

There's another Marvel connection then, Peter McNicol was on Agents of SHIELD :D
Huh. So this Rocket Raccoon is the same one as in the Bill Mantlo/Mike Mignola mini-series? I'd been wondering... and am wondering still why his personality is so different from then. What did I miss?
With your question, I'm surprised you're not confounded at this group group being called the Guardians of the Galaxy, @Chuck_Melville.
Both the Current Rocket personality and the current Guardians came about from Annihilation: Conquest.

Well, I'm still a bigger fan of the original GOTG than the current crew, but I was aware that the line-up had changed, though I hadn't read Annihilation: Conquest. I didn't realize Rocket's personality was altered during that storyline either.
I have to say that the trailer's left me a bit bemused; the humor content is not what I was expecting from the film. I'm still on board with going to see it when it comes out, but I don't think my excitement over it matches anyone else's here. Not yet, anyway.

Matt, you are a gigantic asshole.
Not really, but it's one of my favorite quotes.

Not real sure what he's saying ... "This one here's our booth?"
I am at a horrific excitement level for this movie.
When I showed the trailer to my kids my son was jaw dropped speechless at Rocket and my daughter had her fists raised high shouting "I AM GROOT!"
How can anybody not be excited for this?!

The poster really evokes late 70's sci-fi to me.
