Btw, while watching Castrovalva I saw Davidson do something that Tennant did a call back on. Davidson's Dr. is having post regeneration difficulties. He's trying to wake his brain up by counting, but can't get past the number 2. Finally a small girl enlightens the Dr. by saying, "3". There's a deleted scene from Family of Blood when Tennant's Dr. is leaving Martha a list of things to do. While making the list the Dr. goes from 2 to 4, skipping 3. He stops, thinks for a minute, and then tells Martha what 3 is.
Still no official word as to WHO the next Doctor will be? In that case, I nominate Verne Troyer. His credentials seem in order, plus I think it's high time we had a vertically challenged Doctor.
Looks like this was probably just a pipe dream after all. BBC spokespeople were quoted as saying that all of this was just a rumor that as far as they knew was untrue, and T.I.E.A., the company that was supposed to be receiving and transferring the "lost" episodes offered up this statement late last week:
T.I.E.A. does not hold any missing episodes of the long-running Dr Who series. The original videotapes were wiped [and] subsequent film copies were either returned to the BBC [or] sent to landfill. Odd fragments have surfaced - two episodes on 16mm film - but that's it. The programmes in question, like many others, were destroyed as they had no further commercial value. They are not missing but destroyed. The end.
I am sorry if this upsets some people but these are the facts.
I have also become aware of the tracking of some of our clients' shipments. These are local cultural materials sent to us for migration to a modern format as the playback equipment in the country of origin no longer exists and as such is the best road to preserve international cultural heritage.
I will be making no more statements on this subject.
Philip Morris, Executive Director, T.I.E.A.
There's always the hope that this stuff (and so much more, in the UK and the US alike!) is still out there somewhere waiting to be discovered, the likelihood is that it never will be. But bear in mind I'd love to be wrong about that!
My Whoathon has entered the Davidson years. I'm remembering why I tuned out around this time. The companions are two children and a bitch.
That wasn't nice. Sorry.
Janet Fielding is quite attractive, but man can she complain. She reminds me of Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane. Beautiful woman but she makes the 1st season of Adventures of Superman really hard to watch.
I mentioned that earlier in this thread. Nothing against Janet Fielding, as I think she was actually one of the stronger actors on the show during that era, but why Tegan ended up being Davison's companion for all but the final two stories is beyond me.
I remember at the time thinking it was cool that they went back to the notion of multiple companions, but when I think back, I have very few positive memories of any of them. And when it came to losing Tegan or Nyssa, I'll never understand why they did what they did. I always thought the trio of The Doctor, Nyssa and Turlough would have made for a more interesting show.
But, in spite of all that, I loved Tegan's exit. It's one of the moments I remember most from that era.
Alwaysjammer, please check before creating a new thread. There already exists a Doctor WHO thread. That video (as well as countless others) has already been posted in it. Considering the Doctor WHO thread is one of this forum's more active topics, it usually appears on the very first page, so it shouldn't be too hard to miss.
Favorite Story: 1. City of Death 2. Blink 3. Kinda

I'll be honest. As much as I enjoy Doctor Who, I haven't watched enough of the episodes to be in a position to vote. I've only seen the episodes from the 9th incarnation onward. I've been picking up a few of the earlier episodes from the library, but I really feel as if I need to explore some of that older content before declaring favorites.
So, how awesome was it to see Frobisher? And not only did he put in an appearance, but it looks like he's going to be an integral part to the overall story! Huge win for the "non-canonical" companions there! Makes me wonder if we'll see any others before this is done. I can't imagine we'll see, say, Benny in issue 7 (unless they licensed her from Paul Cornell, Virgin, and/or Big Finish, whoever actually owns the character now), but I wonder if we'll see someone like Fitz, Anji, Sam Jones, or even Compassion teaming up with the 8th Doctor?
Don’t know if you’ve ever seen this but I’m putting it up assuming you haven’t. In May 2012, the show ‘Blue Peter’ on the CBBC ran a contest to write a mini-episode of Doctor Who. The winner was the episode ‘Good as Gold’ written by the children of Ashdene School http://youtu.be/c_TfU8bTpqo
