Not a problem, @Grimsister. I can see why they think they needed one - it explains the point of the show to anyone who might be watching for the first time, it links it structurally to the Torchwood intro (which I didn't mind), yadda yadda yadda. But I don't like that it basically makes the Doctor the co-star of The Amy Show, just like I've never agreed with Moffat's assertion that Doctor Who "has always really been about the companions." I like the companions, they serve a lot of important story functions, but still, I've spent all these years watching Doctor Who, not "Scream Along with Melanie," "Shrillness with Tegan," or "Adric Sulks Some More."

If you do audible.com, you can get a lot of second Doctor stories that have only the audio left. I have listened to Power of the Daleks and The Highlanders to name a few through Audible and they are amazing.
Boy, that Baker - McCoy regeneration looks worse every time I see it. Of all the things they could have done, they went with that? I get that Baker wouldn't come back to film it, but couldn't they have just run with that and done something unexpected?
And I know people complain about Colin Baker's two seasons, but that first McCoy season is the one that nearly turned me off the show for good. That awful opening scene pretty much conveys how the rest of the season was. Luckily, they turned things around by next season.
Otherwise, they've aged better than I expected, bearing in mind the limited effects budget. The Troughton regeneration seems overly silly to me, but it's not too bad. Even the Hartnell regeneration manages to do some effects a cut above what they normally delivered. Still don't understand all that Watcher nonsense around the Tom Baker regeneration, though.

Many Colin Baker stories hold up better than you think they're going to. Twin Dilemma, Attack of the Cybermen, and Timelash not so much, but the others are actually pretty good, particularly the Trial season, and yes, so much better than McCoy's first season. Delta and the Bannermen is a special kind of suffering.
As for the Tom Baker / Peter Davison regeneration, well, that's John-Nathan Turner for ya. Doesn't have to make much sense so long as it looks flashy!
Colin really got dealt a rough hand to play. He has really came into his own as the Doctor in the audios and frequently rates quite high on fan favorite lists. Possibly because he so enthusiastically embraces his Who audience. He's in my top 3.

The Big Finish audios "...Ish" and "The Holy Terror" are two of my favorite Who stories in any format, and definitely my favorite 6th Doctor stories. ...Ish is full of the sort of wordplay that Colin Baker was always so good at, and Holy Terror goes from being satirical and hilarious to absolutely terrifying at the end, like a nihilistic Terry Pratchett story or something.
love Richard E Grant in both of those performances. and the robot Master inside the Tardis (or was he a hologram?) was a neat concept, too. are those webisodes still available anywhere?
Never did see Scream of the Shalka, nor read the novelisation BBC put out toward the end of their paperback Who novel line. I just remember them making a big deal about the fact that they were going to regenerate McGann's Doctor and move on and that it'd be canon, and then several months later they announce the new TV series and all that Richard E. Grant stuff was quickly swept under the carpet. Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey indeed!
Oh and since nobody seems to have a guess. Bad Wolf (from Ecclestons series) is scrawled on a wall as background graffiti. I was geeked up about it. In going to take my red swingline stapler down to the basement now.
@Big_Daddy_Summers post of the Doctor regenerating just makes me sad. I still cry whenever I see David Tennant regenerate into Matt Smith. It's not because I don't like Matt, it's just I prefer David. I was a wreck at the Doctor Who spectacular in Melbourne after they showed all the the Doctor's regenerations during the finally. Couldn't help it... It was nice though everyone applauded each actor as they appeared.
It'll be nice to see a new documentary that covers the entire history of the show. SyFy channel did a series of them to promote last season, but they completely ignored the classic series. I think they even skipped over Eccleston.
