Also, while it is not required, it is common practice to name the penciler and inker of the cover you post. But if you don't someone else likely will do it for you.
Here’s Aparo doing zombies (I think—don't actually have this one) before zombies were cool. One of his hidden gems, Strange Suspense Stories #7 (May 1969). By the time this came out, Aparo had already started his run on Aquaman, but Aquaman was bi-monthly, giving him time to continue his work on The Phantom and to do a few short stories for Charlton’s anthologies (though some of those could have been done well in advance).
Immediately after posting the last post, I wanted to post this one.
Walt Simonson's run on Fantastic Four in the early 90's was SO AMAZING to me... especially this time travel storyline and the stuff he did in the interiors just BLEW MY MIND!!!!! Anyone remember that run?

Great follow-up!
Simonson's FF run is one of the few things I regret missing after I dropped all my Marvel books half-way through Secret Wars II. Has it been collected?

There was the Omnibus which I believe is out of print and then there are these volumes

Can I misread your post anymore? Those were his Thor volumes. I suck at reading.
Also you can't fault me for trying yo unload my omnibus at a ridiculously overpriced tag can you? I probably wouldn't want to sell it; seeing as how I've not finished reading it yet.
Speaking of ridiculously overpriced I'll sell you my vf 4 issue Rocket Raccoon mini series from the 80s for a flat $450.00 (currently price of the issues in fine condition at mile high). Act now with the codeword mattrules and you can get them at 50% off.
That Damage Control mini sold surprisingly well. I was working at a comic shop at the time, and it sold as well for us as any Marvel book that didn't wasn’t Spider-Man or X-Men related. And Walt’s run on FF was probably the most wild and crazy fun the title’s ever been.
In keeping with Rocket Raccoon, and the fact that Kirby would have been 97 today, here’s Tales to Astonish #13 (Nov. 1960) with inks by Steve Ditko.
In FF #337 up above, who is that next to The Thing? Is it Ben Grimm, or ... ? And why does The Thing have a McDonald's logo on his tunic?
Yeah, that’s Ben, but it’s not The Thing, but rather Ms. Marvel, a.k.a. Sharon Ventura, a.k.a. She-Thing, who Ben met when he was in wrestling in his own series back in the mid-’80s.
I would say yes. But my assumption is that it was done not to say, “Hey, kids! Boobs!” but to show potential readers who haven't been following the story that this is not The Thing you know. After all, she looks exactly like Ol’ Blue Eyes in pretty much every other way. Vive le différence!
Happy Birthday Gene Colan! Eugene Jules "Gene" Colan (September 1, 1926 – June 23, 2011) was a comic book artist best known for his work for Marvel Comics, where his signature titles include the superhero series Daredevil, the cult-hit satiric series Howard the Duck, and The Tomb of Dracula, considered one of comics' classic horror series.
One of the nicest guys—and one of the most overlooked—in comics passed away last night. Stan Goldberg (1932-2014) started out with Timely as a colorist at the age of 16 in 1949. Two years later, he was heading the color department. All those Atlas comics? He colored every single cover, and a bunch of interiors as well. Pretty much every Silver Age Marvel character has a Stan Goldberg influence, as he came up (sometimes in collaboration with the artist) with their color designs.
But he wasn't just a colorist. He also penciled and inked tons of teen-age comics, both for Marvel and DC before finally landing at Archie. Here’s his first cover, Kathy #1 (Oct. 1959), which he penciled, inked, and colored (he also penciled every interior story).

what are the rules?
thanks!
Rule 2: It should be posted on a day.
Rule 3: It should be awesome.

I'll start with the more "non-mainstream" (??) books that I enjoyed...
Damage Control! One of my favorite limited series.
Ernie Colon cover art!

*Not that I don't love his later work as well...

His original Classic X-Men #1 cover and a commission for a recreation. Freaking sweet!!!
