I disagree with the assumption that Affleck's casting was some kind of favor to him. He has expressed repeatedly that he didn't want to return to superheroes after Daredevil. He has returned to the A-list in a big way and has more credibility and legitimacy than ever in his career. If anything his casting was a favor to Warner Bros. There is no way WB is taking one of there biggest active franchises and giving away one of the most important roles in film for the sake of helping a buddy out.

WB wants to stay in the Affleck business. Partly for an actor, but mostly for his work as a writer/director. His last two big hits were The Town and Argo (and his only big hits in the last 10 years), which he both directed and starred/co-starred in, and wrote The Town and produced Argo. Both of which were made/distributed by WB.
From the original Deadline annoucnement: "he casting further solidifies Affleck’s relationship with Warners, which released Argo and is behind his next directorial effort Live By Night."
Its a favor to Affleck and to Warner Bros. They made him an offer he couldn't refuse, he gets to appear in what will end up being a top 5 box office smash. This can/will help his brand when he directs his next movie, and his deal with WB likely included agreements to fund his next few movie projects, which is good for him also. Good for him, good for WB.
I don't disagree with it being much more properly defined as cronyism. But it was my post and it would have been accepted on any game show, trivia challenge, or scrabble, so let's move on. If you prefer to keep quibbling about it, then let me just call it "favoritism." You still haven't alluded to your thoughts on the original theory.
I don't think Affleck got the part because he's somebody's friend.
I think he got the part because he's a Successful Movie Star and a Damned Fine Actor.
There is too much money on the line for this to be about friendship. Successful, mutually profitable business partnerships that they hope continue? A combination of brands based on market and audience research? Sure. But this is too high stakes to be about who they do or don't like as a person.
That's good casting-- I feel like Johnson has a bit of humor and whimsy in all of his roles. Even when he is the heavy he looks like underneath he is having a great time. And that is perfect for a character that is actually a little kid inside a giant.
I don't think its brighter, I think that's the same color. I'm very confident that the look, which many seemed to have a problem with, was due to the color coding on the movie and that much of the time, Superman is in shadows (i watched the movie again yesterday). All of which contributed to the suit looking either really dark, or washed out.
"It can't be possible. I refuse to believe it. But there are reports circling that the Batmobile has been stolen from the set of Batman Vs. Superman in Detroit.
"Details are scarce and nothing is confirmed. Bleeding Cool, which first reported on the caped crusader's missing machine, reached out to Warner Bros. but the studio hasn't responded. CBS in Detroit has contacted the local police department and they're looking into it.
"Again, this is probably bogus, but if it isn't, keep your eyes peeled for something dark, menacing, and with freaking machine guns on its nose."
I'd prefer the Batmobile be very low key. It should essentially be like KITT, minus the Super Pursuit Mode. Not sure why a guy who tries to be an urban legend & blends into the night needs a bat-themed exotic vehicle.

He could be Shazam or Black Adam. I think I'd like to see him as Shazam, but he'd make a good Black Adam too.
I thought they already cast Shazam!
...never mind, that was Kazaam...
