I think the Tumbler worked for the Nolan movies because of how he acquired it. I'm guessing WB is going to walk a fine line about whether or not this is the "Nolan" Batman. He's not.... but at the same time he COULD be if the fans want to interperet it that way. He is older after all. So, this military-ish looking Batman would fit with allowing fans to THINK this is a continuation of the Nolan Batman if they want. Whereas if they went with something that looked like a custom Ferrari, but had secret gadgets (which would be cool) people wouldn't think "Nolan".
That's my guess anyway. When Batman Begins came out, didn't WB walk a similar fine line by saying this Batman could kinda sorta be a prequel to the 89-90's Batman movies? Of course it turned out so be something completely different, but I seem to recall some statements/marketing that made it seem like they wanted fans to think of them as one series. But maybe I'm crazy.
I just don't know about this movie. Some of the stuff I hear makes me think it will be OK and then I'll hear something that makes me think this is going to be the biggest debacle ever seen.

I was think about this a little bit myself. A lot of this looks Dark Knight Returns influenced. I'm not sure I want our starting point for a new Batman to be an older (coming out of retirement) Batman.

Screams "HOT MESS!" to me, but that's from the viewpoint of a civilian looking at it from the outside. All the problems the Man of Steel had, but amplified by the number of characters appearing in it.

Hopefully not. Hopefully not.
you know there were a couple of scenes in MoS I really dug. When he is sitting patiently in handcuffs in the interrogation room allowing the military to feel comfortable. and then he stops allowing them to geel comforable. *snap* lets be clear here I'm only here becasue I want to be. that was smooth. for a lot of the rest of the film Supes has shockingly little dialogue.
The scene at the truck stop was pretty passive agressive. I think all told I give the movie a C/C+. Going into This new one I hope they lighten up a bit. On the whole I think the DCU is a little brighter and shinier than Marvel tends to be (and i liked that once upon a time) with maybe the exception of Batman. Having a gritty bad ass Supes doesn't improve things IMO. One of the things I like about the Flash TV show is that Flash isn't Arrow. Same company, same network, same writers but the characters are happily distinct. I don't want Superman to be cut from Batman fabric.
The "S" in David S Goyer stands for shitehead. With the bad mouthing he's done on some of their characters, I don't understand why DC/WB keeps him around.
This is just going to be one big DC Universe event, isn't it? Just kind of see how many characters we can cram into one movie. Not sure how I feel about that.

Yeah, I get that they're playing catch-up with Marvel studios, but Marvel earned the ability to do things like introduce more characters and announce franchises years ahead of their release and still expect excitement about it.
Imagine if Marvel had released Iron Man, and then alongside the release of Incredible Hulk suddenly started announcing stuff like The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. Even though all that stuff came to be, and it was successful, most would have thought they were severely jumping the gun. Even by the time of Iron Man 2, Nick Fury and Black Widow felt sort of awkwardly wedged into the story. I'm not sure how defining the DC Universe with one film is going to play out.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Batman v. Superman will be good but I just don't understand the need to just throw every character in the DC Universe into this movie. I can't imagine that these characters having a whole lot of screen time and for those that aren't familiar with the characters on the screen, aren't going to care all that much about the fact that they are in the movie. I guess we'll find out soon enough though.

You have to watch the video to see who it is...or you could go to bleedingcool as they're all over it.

I think I'm rambling....I'll stop now.
And this is the dude handling Wonder Woman...?
I have to wonder how @Matt feels about that.

Interestingly, even with all the attention on Batman, this signs point to this being much more of a Man of Steel sequel
