I went and downloaded the Marvel, DC, Image, IDW, and Dark Horse apps and it looks like you can still do in app purchases for them and still get in on the sales. I'll use comiXology as the reader app they want it to be. I'm sure they'll still get some $ as these apps use the Guided View, but they'll be getting much less of it.
Does comiXology plan to remove the ability to buy comics through the DC, Marvel, Image, Vertigo, etc. apps on the iOS as well?
That’s a better question for them.
Update: CBR News reached out to several publishers who have their own apps powered by comiXology. According to a spokesperson for BOOM! Studios, "We don't currently have plans to remove the ability to purchase through the BOOM! Studios app."
I have a Surface, so it isn't an issue for me, yet.
That said, I only made one purchase through the Windows 8 app itself - my very first purchase. Since then, I've been going through the DCBS button, because I earn 5% back to use toward my dwindling physical purchases.
Since I heard that Amazon was consuming Comixology, my one "fear" has been the eventual requirement that all purchases go through Amazon itself. It may be inevitable, but it hasn't happened yet.
It will, I'm sure. Eventually, Amazon will consume us all and the Resistance will be dodging drones and taking refuge in the burned out husks of old Barnes & Noble stores.
I, for one, will welcome our dark overlords at Amazon. May they rule us with an iron fist.
On my Kindle Fire I buy comics from Comixology as an app, as well as on my desktop at the Comixology website, and from Amazon, again both using my Fire and on my desktop.
After just reading this posted at Bleeding Cool, I sent this to Comixology:
Will I be able to merge purchases of comics from Comixology and Amazon into one account? Preferably into Comixology. It has the better Guided View. Thanks!

Let us know their response. I'd like to do that too!
Still not happy about this whole disabling of in-app purchases, but there are still comics to buy and read so here we go! If you don't want to head to comiXology's website for these books, you should be able to access and purchase them using each publisher's app.

Matt, at Comixology, said, "That would be awesome! But I don't have any word on that."
Those initial storylines - Doomsday, the Death of Superman, Funeral for a Friend, Reign of the Supermen - were solid. That Hunter/Prey mini was generally not good.
Never read The Doomsday Wars or Reign of the Doomsdays. Anyone have thoughts?
This collection is only $2 right now. If you haven't picked it up yet and wonder what all the hubbub is about, it's a cheap way to test the waters without completely jumping in.
The first 22 issues of Batman '66 are $0.99 each. After that the price increased to $1.99 (assuming because of the popularity or general greed of DC execs?). So it's technically still a sale.
It's really a fun series and the GVN makes it even more enjoyable. Not sure if I want to get these or continue with Revival (another great series).

If it's based on success, I wonder why they never raised the price on Injustice?
