Test Pattern: Johnathan Hickman Collection (collects all the following titles) - $18.99 The Nightly News - $4.99 Pax Romana - $3.99 A Red Mass for Mars - $3.99 Red Wing - $3.99 Transhuman - $3.99
And a tweet from Mr. Hickman himself:
comixology, half-off sale of my books. They deserve to be bought at the full price. DON'T BUY!
I switch around using the Comixology app on my iPhone, iPad and my wife's Kindle Fire. To me they're interchangeable with the app, although the Kindle's navigation feels a little clunky, but maybe that's just because I'm used to my Apple stuff. iTunes also sells graphic novels and single issues and I've downloaded a couple of free singles. You can pinch zoom in/out, but there is no "Guided View" and that makes it difficult on something as small as an iPhone. I can tolerate the GV on my iPhone, but I would much rather read books on something bigger.
As to why Amazon wouldn't fix? On the load up screen for the Comixology app, below the logo, it says that "Guided View" has a patent pending. I'm sure that's why no other digital comics distributor has something similar. I also don't think that CMX would even license the tech because that would annihilate their market share. At least that's what this humble user has surmised.
Hellblazer (uh... that's a lot of books. Is this the entire run? wow!) --- It's actually divided into eras --- Jamie Delano, Garth Ennis, Paul Jenkins, Warren Ellis, Brian Azzarello, Mike Carey, Denise Mina, Andy Diggle, and Peter Milligan --- Issues 1-300
If ever I miss a sale, please feel free to come in and update (I did miss posting a couple this week). Also, if I have forgotten to post a sale, I believe you can click on the links in the older posts and it will take you to the main site anyway. The main site also has a button now that shows current sales. Happy shopping!
With the release of G.I.Joe: Retaliation in theaters this week, IDW has a 1/2 Off sale on some G.I. Joe books.
I also posted a thread about a online course about gender in comic books that was being offered for free (check the main forum). There are some required books for the course on sale for a limited time. Even if you're not taking the course, perchance you would like some of these for 35% off? (I believe if you "add all to cart," you can edit the ones you don't want before you purchase.
"Since you asked for updates about the Marvel #1 promotion, we wanted to let you know that we have been working hard to make things right, and now...*drumroll please*...you are among the first to know how to get your hands on them.
Because you already have a comiXology account, no further action is needed at this time, and youll be the first in line.
On Thursday, April 11th, we will begin sending out invites with your personalized link to access over 700 FREE Marvel #1 issues, so be on the lookout for your email! Please add noreply@comixology.com to your address book so things don't get caught in your junk mail.
Once you receive your Marvel #1 invite, you will have 48 hours to choose your FREE Marvel #1 issues!
You can only access this page by using your comiXology XXXXXXX username and password."
If you missed the email sign up, it's still not too late. Go to the promo page and sign up. You'll need to hurry though because its only open until Tuesday at midnight.
Got the email below today (4/11) and "purchased" 559 comics. *whew* I'll probably only read 5-10% of them, but fun nonetheless--I already own a bunch of the physical copies and have read them. Be on the lookout for your email. You have 48 hours from the time they send it to grab your books. Also, they don't automatically populate in you library. Comixology sends you another email stating that it may take a little time to get them to show up.
"It's here! Your 48 hours have begun!

Also, if you haven't gotten an email yet, be patient. They were going to roll this out over the course of time so they don't get slammed again. You can always contact them if you're getting worried.
There's also a weekend sale on Chris Ryall books (Groom Lake, Infestation: Outbreak, Mars Attacks, Road Rage, Weekly World News, and Zombies vs. Robots)
Got mine and just did it. It is a super easy set-up. This seems like a smart solution.
I agree. I wish there was an add all option, but I can also understand their decision not to include one. I'm sure forcing people to select each book manually reduces the likelihood of a server overload.
Good grief.. as if my collection needed more unread comics.
