"Recent Marvel credit scenes have been kind of minor, but ANT-MAN has two (mid-credits and at the very end) that, unlike its hero, are huge." Kyle Buchanan
FYI: Tonight is the red carpet world premiere of Ant-Man live from Hollywood and Marvel will be live streaming the event starting at 6 PM PST today, June 29th. To watch, just go to Marvel.com/AntManPremiere at the appropriate time if you want to watch all the stars come out. Expect more reviews this week. Ant-Man will be released to US theaters on July 17th and several other countries before and after that date.
Comparing this wig talk to the wig talk in the FF thread just goes to show that it has all to do with brand loyalty. And, that movie makers are totally correct in not paying attention to the whims of a subsection of its audience. Good on them.
Are you saying that the filmmakers trying to make the hairstyles in the movies match comic fans expectations of familiar hairstyles from the comics is "not paying attention to the whims of a subsection of its audience"? Not sure I follow.
Both films in question feature leading ladies sporting the hairstyles reminiscent of their comic counterparts. So what does the 'wig talk' have to do with brand loyalty - care to elaborate?
i have to stop watching clips... i want to save some surprise for the actual movie.
Ditto. I stopped watching trailers after about the 2nd or 3rd Avengers Ultron trailer. I know I am going to see pretty much EVERY Marvel movie, I would rather be surprised in the theatre.
If you remember the first Avengers Age of Ultron, the theme music was sort of a distorted version of "There Are No Strings On Me" from Disney's Pinocchio movie. Anyone recognize the Disney theme that the character at the end of this IMAX trailer, sneak-peek is whistling?
Far be it from me to be an MCU apologist, but of those 33% reviewers that rated it 'rotten,' a brief perusal of their other critiques illustrates the disparity. For instance, one of them hated Thor: Dark World, anther who gave Ant-Man the thumbs-down happened to love Magic Mike XXL, another negative reviewer says Tammy was brilliant, another loved Fifty Shades of Grey, another gave Crank 2 five stars, one loved Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D, and so on.
Your mileage may vary. And it may not be as universally praised as GotG, but it won't be a bomb. In the meantime, have I recommended Mad Max Fury Road yet? Because I do.

I have to say, your mileage may indeed vary. I personally thought Thor 2 was awful, a lot of reviewers seem to like Magic Mike XXL, (which has a similar RT score to Ant-Man), Crank 2 is awesome if it's the kind of thing you like, Fifty Shades was based on an insanely popular book and was almost universally regarded as at least better than the source material, and 3D concert movies are a thing for fans of the performer. Reviews are subjective but in aggregate they often at least give a general idea of how audiences are going to react. Judging a reviewer's current reviews on past reviews only demonstrates how they line up with your tastes, not they're judgement or the validity of their critisisms.

In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it-fasion, it spoils a character cameo.
Except for Tammy. That's inexcusable.
it's up to 77% but still only 56 reviews... another 150 reviews to go
