Another Heavy Metal Comics series gets the axe before launch. It may because it was so late, but I just received notification from DCBS that Atoll #1 & #2 has been cancelled. Unlike Machanism (now at Image) this time I was told that it would be resolicited at a later time.
Either the pre-orders weren't high enough or the book is just VERY late, or both. Anyone else order this?
I have a catering business that I'm working hard to get started. About 3AM Saturday morning, I was finishing clean up for an event that Saturday afternoon. For a split second I thought that turning off the light over the sink would shut off the water to the sink. That's when I knew it was time to get some sleep.

I just noticed that this Atoll cover is almost a perfect 'swipe' of this 'Shark Night 3D' poster. Not quite as original as I first thought, but still a powerful image...

The poster designer should get a cover credit. Yeesh. Swiping a pose is one thing, but swiping an entire composition is another. Didn’t even bother to change the swimsuit pattern.

I concur 100%, if I can only find out who designed the poster, I will forward Tim Daniel's work to them and they can sort it out
The movie poster was designed by the InSync Plus agency.
Nice detective work Eric! The plot thickens. I just tweeted Tim Daniel to ask if he was going to credit the poster designer when the book finally publishes.
So I was watching Scooby-Doo Where Are You with my daughter and was trying to figure out when Scrappy-Doo became a member of the Scooby-Doo Mythos. So I did some googling.
I'm not sure there has ever been a character like him. He's not a Cousin Oliver or Poochie.
He dominated a tv show for almost a decade. Scooby-Doo had only been around for ten years when Scrappy-Doo was created. Then in 1988 he disappeared from Scooby-Doo mythology. But he isn't erased; he is reviled by the show (see Scooby-Doo movie and Mystery Incorporated! as a statue in the museum). One appearance and one mention that is it.
I'm not making an argument for Scrappy-Doo; it's just an observation. I'm personally ok with skipping over 1980/90s Scooby-Doo and jumping straight to the 2000s with Mystery Incorporated and WWE/Kiss Scooby-Doo movies.
Hey, I don’t even think the animation teams who wrote and drew him liked Scrappy-Doo, so it's no surprise really that he was written out. He was brought in to basically save the show, and he did for a few years, but boy he was annoying.
And I would say that 1998’s Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island—the first of the direct-to-video movies—is worth keeping in the mix. That one was pretty good.
I've watched Point Break maybe a 100x. I've quoted Bodie and Utah most of my life. First time in Blu ray.
Yep still best in movie in 1991, and I'm 200℅ more in love with Lori Petty. Edit: ok just got tank girl on prime 50% through PB to fulfill my Lori Petty and comics connection. See brought it around to comics.
With the move of Image to Portland (joining Dark Horse and Oni, as well as the dozens of comic pros who live there), and with DC no longer in New York, I think Portland has officially replaced New York as the center of the American comic book industry.

I think maybe I'll post that Atoll #1 cover in Comic Cover a Day (Is Awesome) sometime...
How's the art?
Gerry Conway & Tony Isabella make nice after a misunderstanding.
I wish all fanboy rampages ended like this… especially my own.

At one point we find out Grodd has been emailing a lady scientist. Do you think he has a Gmail or is he still using his old gorilla city account?
