One of the few really good strips being produced today. I like to think that Lio is Wednesday Addams’ son, and she died in some fittingly gruesome way when he was two.
"Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way."
Anyone e,we ever have to tell people to shut the hell up during a movie?
Am I just older and crankier, or is this a spreading phenomena of anger and shutthefuckup-ery?
About a million times.
My favorite was standing up in front of someone talking behind me. When told to sit down, I said, "If I don't get to hear the movie, you don't get to see it."
You'd think I'd care more about the Tom Brady thing as a New Yorker... But eh.
IF he really had any knowledge, that's disappointing. He's the best in the league, so it's disappointing.
I wonder how they would have handled things if harx evidence came out right before the Super Bowl.
I'm no Pats fan, but today's MMQB (Peter King) article brought up a couple interesting tidbits to chew on.
1 - Some of the balls we underinflated, but others were within regulation according to the report and averaging them all together brought all balls into regulation. Personally I think that's silly reasoning, but the second point -
2 - They compared Brady's record at home (where he could inflate/deflate balls) vs. his road (where he couldn't) record and the numbers are nearly identical. So whether or not the balls were deflated - not a big difference in his performance.
I still think Goodell's going to throw the book at him in the form of a pat on the wrist (maybe 2 games suspension lost on appeal).
What gets my goat about this is the Pats killed the Colts and it didnt matter. Do I think the Pats cheated? No I really don't. Do I believe Godell would do anything to muddy the waters of talk radio/tv away from critcism of him (and the owners) absolutely. I hate when the owners' stooge makes me side with teams I don't really care about.
p.s. @Torchsong I still think the Saints paid players to hurt/injure opponents, no matter how much evidence is there is to the contrary. Those cheating S.o.Bs
What bug's me most about this is that we seem to hold athletes, coaches and team owners to a much stricter legal standard than our elected officials. Barry Bonds, Lance Armstrong, Tom Brady, etc are paid to play games and entertain us but aren't quite given the same benefit of the doubt that our nation's last Secretary of State has been after deleting thousands of emails and then wiping the hard drives only after the U.S. Congress had supoenoed the emails.
ESPN would have crucified Brady for doing the same thing while the politician wasn't punished. Instead, they've launched a Presidential bid that half the nation will support...
The US didn't care when a POTUS lied to a Grand Jury. Yeah, it was about sex and got really stupid, but he still lied to a Grand Jury. So, why do we care if a pro-athlete lies the governing body of the sport he plays?

As kids, elected officials generally aren't our heroes (outside of the Washingtons and Lincolns)—athletes are. We are far more emotionally attached to sports figures than politicians, so it feels more like a personal betrayal when they do something wrong. Plus, I think most Americans these days kind of expect politicians to be corrupt as a rule. Watergate finished off whatever illusions we had left in that regard.

Also I'm down 10lbs over the last 5 days.
Moving in the right direction.

A little Patton Oswalt makes everything better.

1) The league's finding that he participated.
2) His failure to cooperate with League investigators.
I think he gets hit with 4 games.

'Merica!

I didn't expect the penalties to be this severe.
'bout damn time.
