I've only watched the trailer once (no one is more disappointed about my lack of enthusiasm for this movie then me), but did I miss any scene with Mark Hamill? If not, what does that imply if Luke hasn't been seen yet?

I believe it's his robotic hand resting on R2's head. Beyond that we haven't seen him. It has me very curious what his role will be in these films.
I broke down and bought my tickets for opening night on the 17th.
It isn't so much that I want to fight for a parking spot, sit elbow to elbow with my fellow nerds, or risk getting underwhelmed a la Phantom Menace...
...it's that I just don't trust ANY of you not to get on here on Friday morning and talk about Chewbacca being a jedi now or how it's Jar-Jar under the mask... :)
I decided not to watch it and go into media blackout until 12/19/2015. I got my tickets!I resigned myself that this day and age spoilers will be revealed despite my best efforts but I'll give it a go.
@Matt You're not alone, but since I know you don't mind spoilers, have you been to MakingStarWars.net, yet? It's a website of a Star Wars "super fan" who has mapped out the entire plot of the forthcoming film by piecing together the various leaks, rumors and spoilers that have come out over the past twelve months.
It might be right up your alley, although, it is NOT Wookiepedia.

And a reminder to @Matt and anyone else that follows such leak-informed speculation, to please keep it off this thread.
Put another way- I would have like to go into Avengers Age of Ultron without knowing about a certain character death. But some loose talk ahead of release spoiled that. I would ask that anyone following leaks on Star Wars only discuss it in a conversation labeled to contain those sorts of potential spoilers. Thanks.

I actually haven't been thinking about the movie enough to do any research on it. It's only within the last week that I remembered it's coming out this year.
I read the synopsis that the makingstarwars site posted a few months ago. As far as I know the site itself isn't really that. Rather it is a blog that has all sorts of various rumors and leaks. That synopsis was one blog post at one time. Maybe they've kept it up to date?
It's too long a website for me to bother reading either. I did enjoy the trailer.
So, @David_D does your reminder mean forum members can't speculate or just not spoil? Is there now a "speculation" designation?
Thanks for asking. Speculate away, of course. Make your guesses based on trailers and images and such. That feels like fair game. And is to be expected in a discussion like this.
But if someone is citing leaks or unofficial set pictures, things like that, then I think the considerate thing would be to consider that a spoiler, based on inside or leaked knowledge, rather than speculation.
And I'm not saying can't. I am just asking people to label and warn appropriately so as to not ruin anyone's fun. To put things that aren't a guess based on what we've all seen, but rather potential facts based on leaks in a separate, easy to avoid place. I think people will be able to tell the difference, and that sort of consideration is not too much to ask.

So, I shouldn't be spoiling the fact I saw the opening & it read:
"Not that long ago, in galaxy far (but not that far) away..."
The real dialogue of that scene was an awesome part. The idea that at least these two young heroes, but possibly also most of the galaxy, don't quite believe that there were Jedi is a great repeated device from the OT.
I really enjoyed the music, and was surprised to learn it was not composed by John Williams, but was instead composed by John Samuel Hanson, who worked on the first half, which includes a reworking of the original Han and Leia love theme, and also by Frederick Lloyd, who worked on the Force Theme in the second half. This music isn't new material from John Williams, although he's been conscripted to work on the film. We'll hear John Williams's score when The Force Awakens comes out. Apparently there are some composers who work on trailer only soundtrack music, which makes sense.
So contrary to what some may have thought, this music-only version of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was not a fan edit, but was actually released by Disneyland and revised by Tim Gonzales to take away to drops in music during the dialogue bits. One more confirmation for me to believe Star Wars is in good hands with Disney and subsequently, Marvel.
So there's no chance Luke is the guy in black, right? =p
Pretty slim, I think. Haven't we seen the actor cast for that role?
If I wanted to keep a secret reveal like that, I'd put misdirection out there. Think how much better the Palpatine/Sidious reveal in the prequels would've been if we didn't know it in advance.
