Nothing. Crowdsourcing for funding is an awesome idea, and a great way to ensure that works/products can reach their intended audiences (and determine if there actually IS an audience), but I don't don't have the sort of income to support projects on spec.
Also, I remember seeing projects from known, published comic creators that were stuff like "we're doing a project based on Harry Potter fandom and the books' and movies' effects on popular culture, so we want to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for inspiration/research" (I'm paraphrasing like mad, but it was an actual proposal I saw). And you know what? Bullshit. I'm not funding anyone's vacation to Harry Potter Land but my own! I can't afford to take my family, but please, have $50 so *you* can go. 8-|

I've limited my funding to comic book people, and even then to those who I feel have a genuine track record and will own up to their end of the bargain. I backed Mark Dos Santos because I've met him and have pretty much a wall of my house dedicated to him, for example. Like Mr. Cosmic, I'll be throwing some scratch Jamal Igle's way for Molly Danger when it begins. You just have to really read into what the person's plan is and how they plan to pay for it before you pony up your dough. It's not too difficult to spot the fly-by-nighters from the ones with an actual plan for what they want to do.
If anything, kickstarter should create a whole new wave of savvy stock market investors! :)
This project really needs help. Over at http://www.horrorpalace.com there is a couple of guys who are making a movie called Experiments in Killing-hopefully. But they need funds. There is a podcast that is an audio log for following the pre through post production of this film. These are great guys so check it out @ http://kck.st/LNmn29
Looks to be a cool marriage of RPG and manga. What really sold me is the combination of ink and pencil art on it. Scroll down and check it out, it's really looking to be something cool. Plus if you back it at the $50 mark and they make enough, some of the stretch goals are really nice.
It just sounded sick and twisted enough to be something I might enjoy. Sprung for the more expensive variant cover because...well...the other three aren't that good and if I hold onto the book at least this one looks cool. Hopefully the preview isn't indicative that this is a snuff book, and more of the black comedy it sounds like it's trying to be.
"I think it is a shame that Little Women hasn't gotten as much attention over the years as other beloved kid/teen stories like Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Pride & Prejudice, Lord of the Rings, and Treasure Island, which have all been adapted in various books, comics, and movies. To bring Little Women to a new audience, I think there is a demand and need to make a graphic novel version that is accessible and attractive to kids (and distinguishing adults)."
Guilty pleasure book. It's funded but I have some stuff by Hillinski already, so I figured why not throw more support his way?
Local guy...I should support him..not a big fan of cheese cake type comics though.
I enjoy a nice slice of cheesecake every now and then, provided there's some kind of storyline to go with it. This looks like it'll have that. Not on the Jane Austen level or anything... :)
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/610593386/midnight-tiger-comic has only 4 days left. They were so close and then had their biggest donor back out so suddenly found themselves $1000 shorter than expected. So I figured I give them a bump and see if they could get some CGS love.
I wonder if anybody has considered backing every comic related item on kick starter at the minimum level to get the book and then tracking the results. Might be an interesting project and a decent blog.

Simone and Calafiore. 'Nuff said there.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/danidraws/the-little-women-graphic-novel-project 100% agreed.
Don't let the Eisner nomination go to your head, though. You can't be turnin' down Simone and Calafiore if they want to work with you. :)
