I am always surprised when people say that Marvel needs a complete reboot. Why do you think that is? I think Marvel has done a good job of not being bogged down by its past since Quesada came in and changed the focus from navel gazing to storytelling.
I have always felt that the Mike Barr philosophy is best: Reference what can give you a good story, don't reference the rest so as not to invalidate it in case someone else can get something good out of it.
SR! I think the cries for REBOOT! were leveled because of the implications that Marvel was going to do just that. I truly believe had Age of Ultron come out when it was supposed to, we would've seen something closer to a reboot than what we got from the first wave of Marvel Now. But now that ship has sailed. But a good topic for an upcoming Feedback Friday!
Episode 266: Feedback Friday! Feedback Friday returns! The New 52 reboot. TV Talk. Forum discussions. Quick thoughts on the news out of NYCC and more! (31:38)
Part of the fun of the reading experience - no matter how good/bad titles are - is to see the development. See what sticks, what changes, what gets repeated. So yea - I always tend to "go back to the beginning" or the closest starting line. And I'll be talking more on future eps about what I'm reading. I like this part of Marvel cosmic enough to want to podcast about it. This Thanos stuff is developing in interesting ways.
Taking that a larger step, because of the immediate nature of social media and comics, the allowance for characters/concepts to grow naturally through trial and error has lessened over the years. Some readers forget that serial storytelling is MADE for tweaks. Think of the inconsistencies of soap operas. Sweeping things under the rug, adding back story, etc. Not everything has to be a "retcon". Creators don't have to know every bit of a character's story from the beginning. Allowing new elements to emerge is just part of the process.
Hell - imagine if we had all of this social media at the birth of comics! "What? Now Superman has heat vision? He can fly now? How many powers are we going to give him! Perry White? What happened to George Taylor? And what - did the Daily Star have some kind of buyout and now it's the Daily Planet?" Sometimes readers want too much explanation.
This is where people go to the other extreme to list true major retcons that have mucked up stories or whatever. I'll save them the trouble and give a preemptive "You missed the point". :)
Long story short: Yes - more completist analyzing in the future!
It's like having a blogger who was throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks, they find a groove while still trying new things and then they simply Blogfade.
I was skeptical of the daily format, especially with ONE person doing it, but as I listened, I realized I didn't KNOW anything about podcasting's early days where it was more like a Livejournal than a Radio show, and Peter, you did a great job of making it into an interesting Livejournal.
Now, we get an episode every month or so, and while they are great, it almost feels like you spend more time catching up than innovating. So, you won me over and then went away...sounds like High School all over again, and this comment got weird all of a sudden. ^_^

Even way back in the very first Daily Rios episode, I explained that the "Daily" part was going to include everything: podcast episodes AND site posts. But then the daily podcast became a challenge so I kept doing it for that first year. With the second year, I wanted to go back to my original thought. So it's a mix of website content and podcast content. Although still not "daily" just because of time and work and life and such. But the goal is to keep doing website posts AND podcasts. And although New Comics Wednesday, Previews and Timeline Tuesdays are the easiest go-to posts, I always want to do more on the site. For instance, the Beat vs Brian Wood "From the Mouth Of" post is one of my favorites. I also like the 4x4 visuals. And both are more along the lines of the different kind of posts that can be done. It's just all about time.
So yes - there will be more content. I'm a firm believer of baby steps. Give the stuff on the site a chance - feedback on there also helps to kick off podcast ideas. It's only been a few months - I'm willing to give it much more time than that to cement whatever it is I want to do with the overall canvas. :)
